ok yes, I know all about the 650's this one has mags and triple disk that mine doesn't. I totally agree that I'm not gonna make any money from this. What I'm looking for are all
of your collective knowledge when it comes to restoring an old bike. It's not going to be a collectors item when I'm
done just a hopefully decent bike for someone to ride. Yes I will be lucky to break even if I choose to do it. but you can't buy experience when it comes to old bikes. unless you've got $$$$. and looking into the 900's my buddy has a total of 5 either 900 or 1000's. it's his bike of choice. mine has always been something a little smaller and lighter.
Thanks again for all the input you guys rock!

Don't forget the cost of a chain, sprockets and cables. Almost all old bikes will need these. Maybe brake pads too. You could easily put $500 to $800 into it. just to get a safe running, reliable bike.

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Note what people are saying about the amount of cash it may take to make it decent. Go take a look at it and offer him two bills. If he balks put another $50 on the pile. If he still balks, walk away.
Then load the bike up and take it home.
