Example: e-bay carb's alone (28mm & 29mm)are the price of this....
Tank, rims, motor and carbs are worth that any longer.... Ain't that a shame!

Craigslist is the same way, number of bikes listed has tripled, but no one's buying, the economy has taken a big hit and it's showing up in the used market now.
I buy and sell metalworking machinery, but I can't get even half the price I was selling stuff for, I'm just going to sit on the machines for a couple years and hope the economy recovers by then.
Now I'm even more depressed
I'm going to fire up GPzInfested's Turbo and go out and burn up all his gas, that ought to cheer me up

Had a real nice ride, used most of the tank of gas, cops in the nearby town are going to be on his butt hard the next time they see him in town on the Turbo. Yep, had me a real good ride
That 83 GPz1100 I said was at $800 with two hours left sold for $1200
eBay link
GPzInfested just called me on his way home from work, when I told he he'd better not ride his bike in town for awhile, he lust laughed and called me a dog
I shouldn't have warned him
Gotta be a role model you know

Could be the economy (I don't know as nothing has slowed down around here as near as I can tell), but I think it's the psychology of falling gas prices. I heard not long ago that SUV sales have had a recent up-tick.
I'm inclined to assume that enough people are so ignorant that they think gas will be down in the low $2 range by next year. Maybe I'm misreading the tea leaves, but it seems that nothing has changed in the demand vs. supply equation worldwide, although it was pointed out to me today that federal and state fuel tax revenues were down drastically this year due to fewer miles traveled that they've been pressuring the price back down to encourage more driving. Somehow, that just makes too much sense. :S

Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Since last November, U.S. motorists have driven 53.2 billion fewer miles than they did over the same period a year earlier, topping the 1970s total drop in U.S. miles traveled of 49.3 billion miles that was caused by several recessions and increases in gasoline prices over the decade.

According to what I've read, some areas of the country have been hit much harder economically than others, Indiana has been hit pretty hard, and East Central Indiana even more so. Local large GM plant closed up, local huge Delphi plant shut down, Borg Warner laid off hundreds of workers with final shutdown scheduled eight months from now, local Cafes are barely getting by, they took a huge hit when gas prices shot up because people stopped going out to eat, I know several truck mechanics looking for work since their business has died, I've been laid off for a month now because my employer can't afford to pay me, and they're thinking about closing up.
Things are pretty tough around here.

Wife and I go to the city wide yard sales in some of the local towns and it always amazes me how many old bikes are out there sitting in garages that just need a little work to make them ridable. I personally think the increase in UJMs on the road is because the gas price reaming we all got was the incentive it took to get that little bit of work done on a lot of them and put them back on the road.
