Helping hand... was created by Bluemeanie
I was driving down the road Saturday afternoon and noticed a chromed out Harley with it's 4 way flashers on and had to stop and help a fellow biker. I did a u-turn and he was still in traffic half way around a corner. I parked behind him so no one would hit him. His caliper had locked up solid. He asked me if I had a 10mm wrench, well as luck would have it I was returning from installing a new water pump on my son's Durango so I had plenty of tools in the back of my truck. We managed to free the caliper but he accidentally let air in so lost front brakes. He had had the calipers chrome plated and the plating inside was causing the piston to bind. He had sanded it but said he needed to disasemble do more. We got him to the side of the road and he had rear brake so was going back home to fix it. We introduced each other and I mentioned that I owned a KZ650 and will always help out a fellow biker. He told me that his first bike that he bought new was a 1979 KZ650! He said he really enjoyed the bike but made the "change" a few years ago to Harley. Nice guy, we cleaned the brake fluid off the tire and we were on our way. Doesn't matter what kind of bike someone rides, it feels good to help out a fellow biker. I would hope some one would do the same for me! (But in 28 years with the same bike, it has NEVER, yes NEVER left me on the side of the road!) ;)

1980 KZ650F1, Bought new out the door for $2,162.98!

That is nice to read. You know I've been broken down on the side of the road many a time over my life and for some reason on a motorcycle people seem leary to stop. I've broke in a 1T truck and people will stop, but on a motorcycle rarely. Once in Florida I remember a police officer helping me out, so they are not just out there to write tickets.
On a related note my brother in law stops to help everyone on the road, and recently he had a bad accident and loss the use of one hand (at least for now, with more surgery we are hoping), and thanks to his helping, people have come by hoards to help him back. I forget exactly, but a few thousand dollars has come his way.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

when i first got the 650 10 years ago, she broke down all the time.
more then once have people on harley's stopped and offered help.
one even loaded the old girl in his truck when i was pushing her.
his reason was he once had to push his and nobody offered help.
he drove me almost 15 miles out of his way and would not accept any money for his efforts.
he did share a couple of beers when we got to my house though.
know what?
he is one of my best friends now and we rire all the time now.
he stuck up for me riding " jap-crap" more times then i ever have.
we even trade bikes every once in awhile.
( mines faster :) )

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I know the feeling. I don't recall ever being stuck pushing a bike but I know exactly how it feels to be in a bind of some sort of be left without a helping hand.
