First ride with a passenger was created by The Milkman
My new lady has been after me to take her for a ride on the bike for quite a while. But, she has been in 2 MC accidents and wasn't sure that she would actually be able to ride again without and fear.
She needed a new helmet but didn't want to spend the money if she couldn't ride, so this morning I borrowed my daughter in law's helmet and we finally took a ride.
I had never ridden with a passenger either and was a little apprehesive myself. So, I cranked the rear shocks up 3 notches and met her in the local Wally world parking lot to see how we would do. I have always ridden with the shocks set at the lowest setting. What a difference cranking the shocks up made. Riding by myself was a totally different experience. The bike seemed so much solider that way.
Well, I got to the parking lot and she was there waiting for me. She gets changed into a custom made leather suit she had made for her year ago, a she looked great.. lol. I get the bike started and she climbs on and we ride around the parking lot for a short while and it was like she wasn't even there. It was much different that I thought it would be, no problems at all and she said the king, queen seat was the most comfortable one she had ever ridden on.
So, we decide it's safe to go out on the road. I told her if she wanted me to slow down to tap me on the left shoulder,, never did get one of those taps, and if she wanted me to pull over for any reason to tap me on the right shoulder. Got a couple of those, turned out she wanted to get a couple kisses,, :P :P .
Anyway, after a 20 mile ride she is quite pleased with the way it went, no fear at all and just enjoyed the ride, so we stopped at the local Kaw dealer and get her a helmet of her own,,, now she wants to ride all the time,, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: .
I got myself a keeper, ;) ;) ;)
Sorry, for the long post but I just wanted to share it.
And I can think of a few reasons to get that leather suit on whether we are riding or not,,
She did want to stop and look at one of these I have been seeing quite a lot of them on the road lately and she seems interested just not my cup of tea.

Nice! I like 2 up on the Gold Wing but all my other bikes are solo. I put a Gunfighter on the 900 so that is a non issue. The old lady is not into riding too much and I am kinda glad. I won't have to get her one. I was following a Ural with a sidecar down a back road the other day. His lady looked like she was scared stiff. Plus he'd lean over and rub her shoulder and when he did he would get too close to the side of the road. I figured pretty soon he was gonna bounce her off a telephone pole or just bounce her out in the gutter so I took another route. Seen enough gore! But I do like those Spyders. I want a yellow one. never happen.....:(
I like the code...that could also work in other places. Need a few more and heck...talking would be obsolete!

I like to ride solo, for the most part but I certainly don't mind carrying some baggage provided they pay attention. Most passengers seem to do pretty well and pick up on the nuances quickly but some just...don't. All this wiggling back and forth looking over this shoulder and that and readjusting...and the helmet banging passengers!

...it can be just a little disconcerting at times.

Incidentally, I actually saw one of these the other day (on the road, no less) and if I could pick a toy, that would probably be it.

Haven't tried passengers yet but I have been one on different bikes and I can't stand it. Overheard some people in a coffee shop today where bikes congregate discussing the ural sidecars and saying that it was one of the most frightening things they'd tried, much too close to the road and no control, etc.

I was following one of those Spyders the other day in a car and try as I might I couldn't make myself like it. Completely takes the point out of motorcycling in my mind, no need to know how to actually ride (countersteer) and for the price you might as well buy a convertible IMO

The main reason I wanted a motorcycle, was so I could get a girl on with me.:P
My girl loves the GPZ's because of there seats. I had a modern sport bike before and she only rode pillion once because of the seat. Also, our helmets kept smacking.

Well, since that ride, I can't keep her off it,,    ,which is fine with me. She has asked me why it's so smooth and doesn't vibrate like the other bikes she has been on though!!!!!!!! ;) ;)
And, no I'm got going to pull on of the plug wires,,

My wife and started riding together on a 69 CB450 and criss crossed the country on it. Later, we moved up to a CB650 and then a variety of other bikes. I suspect we have ridden about a half million miles together two-up. The main thing for a new passenger is that they not try leaning... just sit back and enjoy the ride. When my daughter rides with me, she likes to lean and I have to remind her to quit wiggling (she is 31 years old and not a kiddo anymore). Today, we would much prefer to ride a Voyager XII than any of my other bikes but my wife will ride on my KZ1000E1 shafty which has a large comfy seat and is actually smoother than the Voyager on back (rough) roads. My wife likes a wrap around backrest and comfy seat which the Voyager provides.

Back in the day I used to be a part time bouncer in bars. I thought it was a novel way to meet chicks and actually get paid for it. I'd even carry an extra helmet on my bike so I could bring one home with me when the bar closed.
Problem with that was, they were usually pretty drunk, and some of them had never ridden before, making for an interesting trip back to my apartment. You haven't lived until a drunk chick passes out on the back of your bike and drools down your back.
But after years of searching, I finally found me a keeper. She doesn't get obnoxiously drunk, doesn't shift all over the seat, lean or rubberneck all over the place. She just relaxes and rides with me.
She looks good on the bike, and she can even cook! Been married to me for 17 years now.
