Doing some work to my 74 Z1 900

well last night i was coming home from work and ran over a stupid nail in the road with my front tire:angry: . That was scary not being able to control the front end. So i ordered a new tire and tube and rim strip. I decided today since my bike is going to be down for a few days i completley dismantled and cleaned the carbs out real ggod. Im also going to adjust the manual cam chain adjuster, because its been making some slight noise lately. I also have the battery on the triccle charger to get it completely charged. All this crap isnt going to stop me from riding this beast to mid ohio. The tire is supposed to get here wednsday, so ill be good to go by thursday i hope...... :laugh:

Of course there is no reason to change out the tire unless it's worn as I'm sure you know but thought I'd throw it out there.

ya its pretty warn down, due to the fact it was acting as a taxi cab for my former ex girlfriend.

Well i put the carbs back on the bike abit ago, and WOW what a difference, like night and day. It idles so sweet now, and revves up instantly. I also correctly adjusted the ape cam chain adjuster and thats all good to go now. But my asshole neighbor called the police on me because i was supposedly "revving" it up. So no test ride tonight. The only good thing about that was the cop was a kz finnatic, and has a built 1978 kz 1000. So my neighbor got all pissed off cause the cop didnt do anything but talk and laugh with me. He just said you should probally call it a night and work on it tommorow.

Well i just got an e-mail from dennis kirk, and my order has been cancelled. I dont know why, screw dennis kirk for now. Im going to the local kawi shop tommorow and have them put in a new tube and ill be good to go.

i got the bike running sweet it idles between 900 and 1000 rpm's. The bike has always ran on the rich side since i owned it, so i decided to put a set of "pods", i had laying around in the garage. It ran like a raped ape no flat spot's anywere and pulls hard to redline in every gear. I was also having a problem sometimes before, that it would only fire on 3 cylenders some of the time. Now with the pods on, i started it up, and went to feel if the 2nd cylinder was firing and DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN, i burned myself something feirce. So i dunno iff putting the pods on leaned it out just enough were it's running right? The plugs are all a perfect tan color. Just to mention the bike has a 4 into 1 vance and hines exhaust with the packing outa the baffle and the baffle cut about half way up. I also did some thing i do not recomend anyone here attempt's my header was dirty so i sprayed it down with WD 40 while the bike was running, My dad came running out cause he thought something was on fire. WD 40 smells horrible when it is burning off an exhaust header.

You do know WD-40 is flammable, right???:dry:

Yes i do, just dont ask me, u can ask my buddy with no eye brows. He was welding and cought something on fire, seen a can of wd 40 decided to spray the flame, it went back in the can and blew up therefor completely eliminating any facial hair he had. It wasn't funny cause i was next to him when it happend, but it sounded like a gun going off. But after if happend and we realized he was ok we both laughed.
