That's a great video, the speed trial in Daytona in '73. A stock Z1 went 160mph. 160!
I've seen lots of posts from riders that claim 120+ on a 900, but I don't think ANY stock 900 could have hit 160. Unless maybe it was ridden off a cliff and caught a tail wind on the way down.
Am I all turned around on this subject?

Cool video. I did notice that they said the 160 record bike was stock displacement with only minor modifications. Like velocity stacks and did you notice all the guys wearing yoshimura t-shirts. :huh:

Cool video! But I did notice a couple things.
I guess the smoothbore carbs were considered stock?

And watching him take off, it looks like that had it geared pretty high.

I caught the slow-ish take off, too. But it didn't occur to me that the bike may have been geared up.
