Well my neighbor flagged me down last night when i was comming home from work, and said hey i bought and olk kz 1000 but its to much bike for him. So i went into his garage and there was a mint 1979 kz 1000 LTD, with 4600 original miles. The only fault of this bike i can see is it was dropped pretty hard on the right side, so theres a few scratches on the points cover, turn signals, and a dent in the tank about the size of a penny. It looks like the bike was launched pretty hard out of the hole and the original owner lost it. Currently the bike isnt running, but it's got a new maintenence free battery. My neighbor wants to trade my 1977 kz 650 for the 1000, i dunno if its a good deal or not? Any thoughts???

I'll buy it. I'm trying to help a buddy with cancer live a dream before he's gone. He just lost his wife to cancer a couple of months ago. He wants a 1000 LTD , like he did when he was young. Nothing fancy, just something to ride. But it HAS to be a 1000 LTD per Charlie.
Let me know

Hell I'd give him two 77 650's for it. If the miles are correct that's nothing on that bike. All the parts that you listed are easily replaced and available. Hard to say without seeing it for sure but my gut feeling would be to jump on it.

Steve,
Hell, I will come over and check it out for you if you would like an open minded opinion. But like Gringo says I would trade it for sure. But the only thing is that depending on the damage to the bike and the work necessary to get her going again might be better left alone as well. I just got your message and will call you tomorrow.

Weel im going to do it. Im going to kick some serious butt here and get the kz 650 back together a.s.a.p. I went over there tonight and took the drain screws out of the carbs and no gas came out so that was a good sign, also the inside of the tank was coated in motor oil and there isnt a specale of rust. I changed the oil and filter, took some gas and got the oil out of the tank, put a fresh tank of fuel in, hooked up the battery, flipped the choke and cranked her over, and wallah she fired to life. She sound really god, no abnormal engine noises. And im proud to report she now has 4602 miles on her now bwahahaha

Nice score Steve it would sure be nice if they all came awake from their naps so easily. If you decide to replace it I'm pretty sure I've got a correct NOS point cover here for that bike.

Patmann, im not sure what im going to do with the bike yet, hell i dunno even when in going to get it. Cause i dont know when the 650's going to be together. I am kind of leaning on keeping it though, cause how many times do you run across a 30 year old bike with 4602 original miles on it. Whatever my decision is ill let you know. What i would love to do is get everything ironed out and ride it to mid-ohio, now that would be sweet, and probally attrract a large group.

I would do a second oil change just for the sake of doing it, flush wise. And check the plugs. You can find a 1000 ltd on craigslist or ebay or gringo....lol
