The fewer cylinders the less frictional and pumping losses, a 700cc single (Panther, the largest I know of) would get much better fuel mileage than a 750cc six cylinder (such as Benelli SEI).

The GPz750 Turbo has a 8:1 or 8.5:1 compression ratio (I forget which at the moment) when it's not on boost, and GPzInfested gets a measured 50 mpg when he really tries, so 60 on a KZ650 sounds reasonable to me. GPzInfested is 5'11 and 250 lbs (he's into power lifting)

seanof30306, you are blowing fuel out the exhaust, get that fixed and your fuel mileage will improve.

My brother gets 40 mpg average out of his KZ1000 CSR pushing a Vetter Windjammer, and he don't care about mileage.

My good friend Steve has a Victory Vegas with the 100-cubic-inch engine (1638cc) and 6-speed overdrive transmission. He gets about 45 mpg. My KZ1100 gets about 40 mpg.

I rode the Victory for the first time last weekend and was very impressed. In o/d 6th at 80 mph it's running at just under 3000 rpm (redline is 6000 as I recall). The lower rpms, combined with only 2 cylinders, do make for very good economy.

Hey, I just re-read this. Want to clarify that I was just making a play on words, not suggesting you were blowing smoke out of your a$$
