1973 float bowl drain plug was created by skinner1
Hello,
Recently bought a 1973 Z1. It is missing one of the 17mm float bowl drain plugs in the center of the float bowl. Anybody have one to sell?
Thanks

Shucks -- thought there was a sure quick answer, as Z1E usually inventories 17mm carb drain plugs (at least for Mikuni 29mm smoothbore carbs), but shows temporarily out of stock. Sorry, I don't know if these will fit the early Z1 bottom-center-drain float bowls.
Depending on the urgency involved, could check with Z1E as to estimated availabilty date, and verify whether these drain plugs listed for Mikuni 29mm Smoothbores with also fit the early Z1 float bowls.
Note this same 17mm plug isn't listed under the 1973 Z1 category.

Good Luck!

The VM29 drain plug won't fit a 73 VM28SC bowl.

Just out of curiosity....what is the difference between 29 smoothbores and these 73 Z1 carbs. Sounds like they must look a lot alike. Anyone have any pictures of both to compare. If they do look alike, how do you tell the difference between the two?

After looking at the pictures, there's no mistaking the smoothbores. Don't think I've ever seen a set of early Z1 carbs before. I was thinking there was a stock set of carbs that looked very similar to the smoothbores and easily mistaken for them. I have to remember all the great stuff Jeff has on his site. Thanks Patton.

I believe Mikuni copied the early Honda Keihin CB350/400F carbs as they are remarkably similar... the Honda carbs are smaller and have many poor Keihin design features but they look at lot alike.
