1984 A-1 was created by PFC FNG
I need some help properly identifying my bike. Kawi says the VIN reads as an 84 A-1, but Z1, clymer and so on say that 83's are A-1s and 84's are A-2s. The fairings on my bike look like the ones from an 83 A-1, but are not exactly the same as either the A-1's or A-2's. The engine sidecovers only say "GPZ" on the right side like the 84 A-2s. Unlike the 83 A-1, mine dos not have the little clock on the tank gauge panel. And to further confuse the issue, I have Mikuni 34mm carbs which are only found stock on the 83 GPZ750 R. Is my bike some kind of in-between model, a carryover from the previous year with mismatched parts or a total frankenbike?

Edit: Found something else cool while looking at details. Unlike any of the GPZ's I can find pictures of, the gas tank on my bike has flat sides, and the edges are not rounded off, but angular. WTF?

I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

83-85 ZX750A1-3 are virtually identical, with just a very few minor differences (fairing mount for one). What's the sticker on the head stock say?

All three years of the GPz750 Unitrak (83-85 ZX750A) look like this.

And a pic of a 84-85 GPz 750 Turbo (ZX750E1-2).
Only produced for two years.

82 GPz750 (KZ750R1)

The 83 ZX750A1 doesn't have a clock on the tank gauge panel, so I'm not sure what you are talking about.

All the ZX750A's had Mikuni carbs, not positive about the 82 KZ750R but I believe it had Mikunis also.

Wait a minute, are you talking about US Models or those sold in other countries? The info I posted refers to US Models only.

The sticker reads as an 84 model with a manufacture date of 1/84 (US Model)

This is supposed to be of a US 83 GPZ750. As you can tell, it has an LCD clock.

And I find as many spec sheets saying Keihin carbs as I do Mikuni's. The annoying part is my clymer manual says it is supposed to have Keihins.

I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

That clock is just one of the stick on kind that someone stuck on there.

The KZ750E, KZ750N, and KZ750H had Keihin carbs, don't know about the KZ750L, and the ZX750A1-3 had Mikuni BS34's.

If your bike don't have a turbo and EFI, and it does have a monoshock, then it's a ZX750A2.

I think I still have a tank and that panel that mounts on the tank left over from the ZX750A1 I parted out (after GPzInfested took the motor and suspension to put on his KZ650 SR).

GPz1100 fairing will work on the ZX750A also, but nothing else fits.

It does not have turbo or EFI, but it does have a mono shock. If you could send me pics of the fairing panels and the tank you have so I can compare, I would appreciate it.

I only have one side panel and a bare metal tank, so I don't think pics would do you much good :)

Flogged the rest of the stuff on eBay long ago.
