I need your opinions was created by The Gringo
I think I've pretty well convinced myself this is what I should do but I'd like to get some feedback from you guys. I've pretty much got that 80 KZ650 I bought in New York ready to start riding, but it still has that absurdly loud exhaust on it. I still haven't been able to convince myself to spend more for a Vance and Hines pipe than I spent for the bike. So I'm thinking I'll play "Mr Potato Head" and just snatch the ZR7 pipe off my 650 C-1.

I've been sending emails back and forth with Mitch Boehm from Motorcyclist Retro and he is interested in using the bike for an article about doing a budget resto on an old Kaw. Since I only paid $106.00 for this pipe it would help keep the spendometer at a reasonable level but then I'll still have to come up with another system for my C-1. I think the pipe will look good on the bike and it is very quiet, which is what I'm after.

Here's a pic of the 80 650.

This is a pic of the C-1 I'm thinking about robbing the pipe from. What do you guys think I should do?

If quiet is your thing. I kinda like the fact my bike sounds like an F-22 Raptor at mach 1. If those cagers can't hear their cell phones, they look for the source of the noise. And then I know they see me.B)

I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

There are arguments on both sides of this but yeah quiet works better for me. I'm about half deaf anyhow so I don't need to abuse my hearing anymore. I also have a neighbor that I don't want to piss off. I don't like the attention loud pipes bring on you from the cops either. I have a 550 LTD with a Kerker on it and it sounds like I'm going 100 mph when I'm doing 25.

BTW I sent you a pm.

I'd have the quieter pipe on the bike I rode most.
With all the bikes you have though Andy, one for each day of the week for 2 weeks or more, that would be difficult to decide.

I vote for the quiet(er) pipe on the daily rider, too.
I, personally, like to keep the neighbours happy because they can retaliate in ways that I/I don't like. So we've all learned to basically keep things quiet in our cul-de-sac and everyone's happier that way. Most cities are loud enough, IMO.
On another note, if you ask MOST non-riders what they don't like about bikes in general, the number one answer is always "noise".
Loud pipes save lives ??? IMO a more aware/defensive-driving
type of rider is a better defence. Loud pipes are, IMO, more of a "Hey, look at me and my bike" thing. Who needs that ??
After all, we all ride Kawasaki KZ's....and what could possibly be cooler than that ??? Right ??? ;) :P B)

KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".
H2A Built from a genuine basket case. Yes,it's a hot rod.
GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.
