E-bay/Craig's list advice

06 May 2008 13:18

I am searching for a specific part (Honda VF500 front scoop) and am wondering the best way to go about this.

I went to E-bay and found bikes for sale galore. What I want are parts.

Is there an adjunct E-bay that deals with parts?
Searching for "Honda VF500 Fairing" came up empty...

Any search techniques for me guys?

Go to the home page of Ebay motors and above motorcycles there is parts and accesories, then drill down to motorcycles, click that, then enter your search terms.I'd enter VF 500 then look through all the listings.Someone may have named it something other than scoop and you won't find it if you're too specific. Also VF500 and VF 500 will return different results.Try both.

Using google, prefix your search terms with the word "craigslist," i.e.

craigslist Honda VF500 front scoop

This should turn up some hits. I have had good success with this in the past.

I had one of those and sold it on ebay , you may also try searching for a "lower cowl" . 500 Interceptor parts searchs are a little tricky , there are many ways to describe the bike .

VF500f
VF 500
VF500
500 Interceptor
Interceptor500

You get the idea .

BTW I still have some low mi. parts that I lost patience trying to sell on ebay .

Here's where I got the idea and tip.
He says that the 500's cowl is smaller than the 750 and 1000's.

rstnick's bike has one on it;

Does this mean that I won't be the only one looking for one now?

Well, I won't be looking for one anytime soon, so you don't have to worry about me! :D

You can have all the used ones. I am going new from my airtech link.
I was going to get a gpz lower from the 85 model and try it but I got out bid and I am tired of waiting.
Airtech makes one but it includes the lower and the mids and is double the price.

I ordered one and will let you know how it goes. I guess they make them to order at airtech so I have a minumum ten day wait.
