Have any of you entered your KZ in a burnout contest before?

My fairly new 600 mile rear tire has a nail in it now somehow. and i cant stomach not destroying it the rest of the way.
I wont ride the bike with a plug in a tire ever (atleast comfortably) so i want to join it in a burnoff competition atleast and get some joy out of the new tire.

Burnout contest? :X

I think you've watched "Biker Boyz" one to many times. :P  ;)

Pull the nail and just put a tube in it.

I tried finding a shop to put a plug into the 300~400 mile new tire from my 650 that picked up a roofing nail, but nobody would touch that job (liability issue).

Back in '88 I ran with a plug in the rear tire of my GPz550 until the tire literally wore out (ie: cheater slick) without a prob, so I figured I'd buy a plug kit and do it myself.
The plug went in just fine, but upon airing the tire up it was leaking past the OEM beadlock(?) stems.
It turns out it already had a tube installed by the last place I bought the tire from.

I ended up taking the wheel in just yesterday to one of the only shops near me that work on our older bikes, and $32 later I have a new tube and re-balanced wheel that actually holds air so I can ride my KZ again! :woohoo:

But i dont ride it enough and i want to be on youtube.

I will look into getting a tube in it, but it will be awhile, i have the more comfortable cop bike now and dont really want to throw any more cash into the 750.
Might even sell it.
Maybe a tube would be good for selling it, but i will disclaim it in the sale that the tire had a nail in it at one time. i just dont trust holed tires too easily after reading all the negatives online.

Well if you're going to burn up the tire anyway, and you already have a nail in it, how about this: put a bunch more nails in it (about every 3 inches or so) and have someone make a video of you doing a burnout at night on concrete. The nails should throw a shower of sparks that would look cool on Utube. Just don't let anyone stand behind you in case it spits out the nails like a 750CC nailgun. Ed

i use to love smoking my rear tire to the cords running it through the gears at stoplights.ya gotta watch out with some of those stickier tires though ,they take it personally and want to hook up when they get hot!

Yeah, wife still laughs at the thought (memory) of me bouncing the mossbeater off the back of the house and into the fence when the tire hooked up on the patio.

few years back i was teaching the oldest boys nephew how to do a burnout behind the shop on an old 125 kawasaki dirtbike in a big wet spot on the asphalt.anyway things were going good till that ol knobby tire started grabbin some chunks of asphalt i had the front brake locked for all it was worth grabbed the clutch but it wouldnt disengage(she was a little hot ! )anyway im sitting on my ass in the parking lot laughing my ass off after i thumped on the ground the pissed off 125 continued across the parking lot right past the front door where my dad and the oldest boy were walking out to see what happened the bike went across the street over a curb and proceeded to launch over a bank and down a hill about 20'.during the day thats a busy intersection but foretunately it was 11:30 on a saturday night!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

what the hell.
sounds like you are asking for permission from us.
flog it, post it and give us a link.
i would not trust that tire anymore and i work for goodyear.
once you plug/patch a tire, it is no longer speed rated so it is more or less junk.
go have some fun but don't blow the motor doing it.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

So, what you're saying, kawasakiman, is spoon the tires onto a Honda and then shred it?
