Guys I've been eye ballin' this Z1 on ebay.

Auction #300218063553

I am thinking about it as an investment. I have some fun money in the market thats been tanking lately. What do yu think a good final price would be? Also do you see these going any higher than they are know? One of the biggest problems is going to get it.

Just my opinion.

A 73 Z1 would be a much better investment.
I feel the stockmarket would be a better investment right now as far as making money on that investment in the future.

It is a good looking bike but should be bought because you like it - not for an investment. the price is prolly reaching the limit of its value and not what I would call a great deal.

Looks like it might be going for quite a bit.

I agree, the stock market is on sale right now, might be worth investing in stocks.

'75 was the last year for the Z1s. Last-year models and first-year models are likely best for investments, and I'll have to agree with the others that a '73 will always be more desireable.
I think a bike makes a bad financial investment because it needs to be ridden. And riding will decrease its value, or may even get it wrecked/stolen.
Anything bought right is already half sold, but an auction with a bunch of wealthy collectors seems a bad place to find an investment bike.
My $.02.

That certainly is a nice example, and it appears to be exactly what the seller states it is, an original survivor.

The only thing I can see that is non stock is the Lockhart oil cooler, which is period correct and doesn't hurt a thing. The tires have been changed as well but that is to be expected. It looks to have both original keys as well as the vinyl key fob that came with them. You aren't going to be able to steal it buying it off ebay, especially this time of year. You could buy it and hold it for a few years and probably not lose any money on it, but I doubt you'd make much either.

I guess it all depends why you are really thinking about getting it. Do you want it to have and enjoy? Or are you looking to make a profit? If profit is the main motive you would do better to buy a parts bike whole and then sell it off piece by piece. Then and again you have to factor in what you think your time is worth as well.

Thanks guys, I'm in agreement with all of the statements here, but was just looking for reassurement. I do like the bike as I'm a true Kawi addict. I guess I should just look into adjusting my portfolio, and dream of the day when I meet a widower who wants to sell her late husbands 73 Z1.

Thanks

Nice example - the bodywork is very good - almost too good. That year's paint pigment was awful - most of the 'blue' 75's have a muddy brown tank these days. The master cylinder has faded badly, but that seems to be one of the few areas the bikes not in great shape.

Wow bidding just ended at $8002.00. That was a nice example but I didn't think it would fetch quite that much. Still it's good to see these old bikes bringing big bucks.
