1965 Triumph 500 Tiger? was created by bill_wilcox100
Spring has sprung in Montreal and my good buddy wants the bike of his youth. B)

He's looking for a '65 Triumph 500 Tiger, green tank. He found one north of New York city and it looks complete, clean, sweet and apparently works, minus the battery. Current owner has health issues so bike has to go.

1) Is $3000, negotiable, in the ball park?

2) Has anyone gone through the process of getting this kind of bike into Canada? Problems: emissions, customs duty, other bad stuff?

3)USA Title to Canadian Registration problems?

4) Is there a good Triumph Forum that a member can recommend?

4) A "Z1 Enterprises" like parts supplier?

I realise this is outside the KZR scope of interest, but you guys have been a great resource on just about everything on two wheels so thanks in advance for any help you can provide my buddy. :)

If all it lacks is a battery, and it is as you describe (sweet and clean), then that price is very competitive and it may be, in fact, a very good price (check latest Vintage Motorcycles ... the mag lists prices between US$2000 and US$10,000 with the high end being a Concours and the low end being a partial bike)...that's all the info I have. Be advised there are three different versions of a 1965 Tiger (all worth the same) and several other models that are 500cc twins...these other 500's are the TRW and the STA Speed...the Speed is worth more than the Tiger and the TRW worth less...hope your buddy knows his Triumphs:)
