Brand new to Kawasaki Bikes was created by hazard1975
I just bought a used CSR 750. The frame says it an 1982 KZ750-M. the motor casing says it a KZ750-b. i am more inclined to go with the motor casing(having had to match numbers on passenger vehicles). My question is did Kawasaki put older motors in the 82 models or am i looking at a different motor than what came with the original bike. and also am i going to have a hard time finding parts for this relic.

None of the above
All the 750 twin motors say KZ750B on them, 1976-1983 (84 in Canada).
I have an 82 motor in my 79 750 twin, I know this because I know the bike it was pulled from, it had KZ750 electronic ignition, air ports in the head, and the air tubes on top the cam cover. And it says KZ750B on it
Most parts are available, eBay if nowhere else.

Easy engine identification:
76-77 have 3 bolts in a circle on the left side engine cover that bolt the stator on.
78-80 don't have those three bolts.
No 81 750 twins.
82 has air injection on the head with hoses going to the valve covers, BS34 carbs, and electronic ignition.
83 (and 84 in Canada) is the same as 82 except it is belt final drive instead of chain.
Since all the parts are interchangeable, you can mix and match and confuse everyone, like my 79 750 twin with 82 motor and 79 cam cover, 80 KZ750G tank/tail/sidecovers, Morris Mags with KZ1000 brake rotors, GPz750 calipers, and 95 GPz1100 master cylinder, and various parts off other year 750 twins.
It's a real mongrel

Hey Hazard,
The main problems, I had, w/parts was finding a good seat. Only the 83(84) seats will interchange, and getting my carbs to work w/pods.
Welcome, to the forum.
BTW, I know this is a long shot, but did you, by any chance, get that bike from a guy in Elicott City, MD.?

I actually acquired this bike by chance and I had figured that it would be a restoration project from the beginning. but to be able to ahold of a complete bike for just Mr. Grant was too good to pass.
I am going to be setting up a picture journal showing the work in progress. New set of pictures each week. Links to journal will be sent to anyone interested.
I am also up for suggestions on how to get started and anything anyone can think of that would help this newbie get his bike rolling.
Thanks for the input on my numbers. it did help.
