Yes, that is a reasonable price and certainly in the ballpark for that bike...of note, is that the pipes look like stock KZ1000A1/2 pipes and should sell for US$700-800 on eBay, if you choose to go with replacement 4into4 pipes or a Kerker or something.

I dunno why everyone wants to buy the older z1's, well I do actually but, for such big money. I just bought a like new 80 ltd pictured in my post picture for 1200 with new tires new stock pipe that were on the bike when new but replaced with a so so aftermarket header. The seat looks new the tank and side covers look new everything on the 7k mile bike looks fairly new for a 28 year old bike plus two new saddlemen bags (nice) and a luggage rack and new progressive springs in da box.
I have to say though the bike looks nice for a really old bike if it is original and not crazy miles and rides nice has to be worth the money and if you don't like it later sell it on ebay and set the reserve at that price. Someone will for sure buy it. The corbin looks nice too. I hear those are comfy seats.
Low ball him with a stone face and see where it gets you.

A low-mileage 69 Honda CB750 with sandcast engine just went on ebay for over $13,000! Item # 320226960036 . It wouldn't surprise me to see Z1 prices in that range in a few years.

You don´t have to wait a few years, there have been a few mint Z1s that sold for $ 14,000 + . In 06 or 07 there was an abolutely mint, all original non-restored 73 Z1 that sold on ebay for just around $ 23,000, I believe that is the current record.

I am also aware of a mint (AKA new) sandcast CB750K0 that went for US$25,000. The fellow who bought the record Z1 is a member of this forum.

That is a bargain. You could turnaround and sell it on ebay for a lot more. If i were closer that would be in my garage.

The WEIRDEST thing happend to me today!!!!

a friend of my fathers plopped down a hand written map with a phone number and a name on it today, he said his father had a 76 kz900!

i looked at it and it has 18k on it, kerker, it has a title, its ALL there down to the reflectors exept for the sidecovers, and he only wants 400$ for it, However! its been sitting outside for years and needs full restoration :(

it has the stock airboc on it, it turns over and the carbs are free, the front disk is nice and mar free, the spokes are pitted but the aluminium isnt too horrible, it would clean up alright, the chrom on the kerker is peeling though, but it has the baffle, it needs a seat. i'll get pics of it monday.
