That ad is as the mastercard people say, "priceless". The look on that kid's face as well as the little spinner in the background re-doing her lipstick don't leave much to the imagination as to what supposedly just took place.B)

On a more serious note after reading the ad I was reminded that these bikes came equipped with Mikuni carbs, even though I sold tons of these bikes for some reason I was thinking they came with Kehins. I learn something new here everyday.

Love that ad too...got it framed and hanging in the living room. I think it's why I bought my KZ400 Ltd, but I think my dream bike for at least 25 years was a KZ750-4 Ltd. Finally bought one last September and actually rode it into work for the first time today. :woohoo:

I don't dare look at another bike for awhile. My wife's not out of the country and would kick my butt if I tried to get another one. I did warn her though that if I found a KZ900 sitting in someones garage for a killer price, it would be worth the butt-kick'n :P

Yeah, I'd have to say that I have "most" of them; but I have quite a few to go...plus, the ones that I have aren't in 'dream' condition, yet...mods, mods, mods...like you can get too much of a good thing...*pshaw!*
Anyway, I'd have to say that currently I'd still like to see a '03 - '07 Z1000 in the garage, any (or all?) of the Zephyrs, a muther-luvvin' KZ650C (finally!), and a 919 (I know, I know, just get off me about it)...and then that'd do it...for now. :)

I guess I really never had a "Dream Bike". That is until I got involved with these KZ's.
I would have to say the 73 Z1 is mine. I have been offered a non-running 74 for a great price, so this fall I am going to go pick it up from a good friend in New Jersey.
I would go in June, but with the new job, I won't have the time until maybe October.
Patience will pay off......

Yes, I own it:woohoo:

I tried 6 bikes before this one and I am really finally happy and for the first time I have two so I always have a runner and a project.
Of course we all want a stable butI am contentB)

I crashed my new 02 Suk GS500 in 05 working as an LA courier.
After I could walk again I decided I needed another ride and I couldn't bring myself to buy a cage. Not when I live where lane splitting is cool.:woohoo:
I wanted another air cooled 4 like my old Radian. Only with dual front disks. Used, since insurance was now an issue:(
I found an 83 GPZ. On Craigslist adv for $1200.
Checked it out, and it looked pretty rough but I new its age and I was over buying for looks. I test rode it hard and it was awsome. Good power really comfy old school ergos with fairly modern harware. After that tesr ride I new this bike would get me through for a while. I offered a $1000 and its still cooking 5 years and 30k miles later. With only a brake rebuild and oil changes and three batteries and 2 washings.

Last month when the battery was down in less than a year. I got worried and started cruising Craiglist for giggles.
Saw a few bandits and SVs that caught my eye but nothing enough to motivate me to call. I hit refresh and at the top of the page was my bike but in show room condition all stock:woohoo:

I told the better half. Then I called the guy and as luck would have it, he was only a mile away. I got to go see it.
The paint was nearly flawless other than a small dent in the tank in the silver stripe. Like a box fell on it.
Everything worked even stuff I didn't know it was suppose to have. It had 3500 miles on the clock and it looked it. Not like a 25 year old bike should look.

Its so shiney, I smile and don't mind cleaning it. Even the engine:blush:
My girl calls herself a bike widow.
It gets 62mpg compared to the 35 mpg I get on the non stock one.
It also made the guy at work who just paid out the nose for a new Ducati, a little jealous.

JohNLA, great story especially the part about your co-worker with the Ducati. That really was an exceptional find just keep this one nice. Only 2 washings in 5 years you should be flogged with a broken clutch cable.:P

Yea, I feel bad about not cleaning more but I never had a chance to take it off the rode and do things proper. Just had to keep her running or carpool(shudder)
That and it has leaked oil since Ive owned it. Advantage of a black engine is you can just ignore it and add more oil:unsure: I got a spare engine for parts so it will finally get its deserved love. Once Im done doing the valves on the new one.
I love having two rides.

If the thing being in pieces counts, I own my dream bike, a 1968 T120R Triumph, complete with tools and owner's manual. I'm practicing my wrenching and diagnostic skills on the 1978 KZ650 SR I talk about on here. It's as close to the first bike I ever owned and loved, a 1977 KZ650, that I could find and it was only a few blocks away. I also am now the second owner of a 1981 Honda CB650C, the last of the SOHC Hondas. It hasn't run in 16 years. It was a 'gift' from a co-worker whose son-in-law purchased the bike new and then stopped riding it one day and left leaning up against her house. More practice opportunities for me.

The Triumph, besides being worth a lot more money assembled than in its current state, is fun and easy to ride. Just remember the shifter is on the right and the brake is on the left ...
