sitting that long and ridden that little, yet they still found time to paint it?
the other question, those little chrome exhaust cover by the foot pegs, did they usually fall off or something? dont hardly ever see them on.

Got to admit I've been watching it!!! Sure would love to get this one, but I'm afraid that it will go past what I can pull together. It's about 3 1/2 hrs from me. I'll keep watching and hoping. I've even thought about giving up my '87 BMW K75C for this one. What do you think? However, the 20+ yrs stored away and the paint job not being original make me a little leery. Sure looks good in those pictures!

Since the exhaust covers were mentioned, I wonder how hard it would be to find the ones for my '81 750E2?

Too bad about the paint. It could have been the candy red originally. I remember seeing them faded to white by 1979 if they saw a lot of sun. That could possibly explain the repaint. Or possibly it's been totalled and repainted with 3 lbs of bondo. That's the wonderful adventure of a repaint. You never know.

Well of course I would say get rid of the Beemer and buy the KZ! :woohoo: It does appear to be a real nice looking bike. I just now sent him a email asking about the repaint, as in why? I'll let you know about the reply.

Still nothing about the re-paint, John? Maybe he just doesn't want to talk about it!? Would have to be a real bargain to pay tops for this one and stll have to take a whole day to retrieve it. Could be a sleeper, though. I've wanted a beemer for a long time and I got this one for way below what others are paying for them. It's complete, but has been sitting for about four years. the guesstimate is that it would cost about 1K - 1.5K to get it road worthy. I would, at best, break even on the deal. However, I would be able to add it to the list of 650's, and I know BadKaw would love to know that.

I recieved an answer to the paint question today. Here it is...

"After 31 years the paint may not appear to be of original
color and it is not obvious if it was repainted. Being that it had been
stored in a barn for more than 20 years the paint wouldn’t have faded. You
may also want to take into consideration that electronic photographs may
not be showing up as the absolute true color and could be off a bit with
the color.

Thank you for your interest".

So... he's suggesting that it is original. I guess I'll have to decide how baddly I want it. Thanks, John.
