Back in 1981 it took a KZ1000 with wheely bars, a slick and major mods including a turbo to run high 8s. We ran 8.78 @158 at Fremont, CA for the national record in class racing in 1981. NMRA D/MT which meant D modified turbo which means unlimited modification to the engine and chassis in the D class + turbo which was around 1000cc. C-B-A was bigger bore. This was a multi thousand dollar effort near prostock in the day. To think of running 155 with a few mods and a street tire is a stretch of the imagination for me.
