KZ305 CSR for sale in UK was created by Tommotbird
I am thinking about buying a KZ305 CSR which is for sale here in the UK. It has 6800 miles & looks to be in pretty good condition. I normally buy larger KZ's but this looks like it might be a bit of fun for the summer.
Just asking any members who have one what their experiences are?

I have one that I bought years ago as a girlfriend bike so I could teach her to ride. I taught her to ride it and she put a whopping 7 miles on it and said she would just as soon ride on the back of mine.:pinch: Years later I retrieved it and got it running again. They are pretty peppy little bikes. IIRC they are rated at around 35 hp and with the 6 speed trans they make a nice little around town bike. The engine is rubber mounted so they are pretty smooth as well. I can say that I like them better than I do the 400/440's. The one you are looking at appears to be a belt drive which will make it a bit quieter and smoother as well. If the price is reasonable I'd say go for it, from the picture it looks to be a nice example. My stepson is planning on riding the wheels off this one once he gets here from Colombia.

Hi Gringo
Thanks for that information. i went ahead and bought it- maybe a bit of a gamble but so what. Had to pay £420 sterling for it which may seem expensive to you guys in the USA. Haven't seen it yet as I have to get it shipped from Newcastle upon Tyne which is about 450 miles from me- I am not even riding 50 miles in this weather.
I got another picture of the bike rear end and it is in fact chain drive- don't know whether that makes much difference from a belt drive. The only belt drive bike I have ever owned is a Buell XB9s lightning which was a nice bike but I shouldn't mention Harley stuff here.

Hi Patton thanks for your post. You are absolutely right, I have been rather misled by an ebay seller and been pretty dumb myself. I contacted the seller who says that he only posted that first picture to show what the bike could look like- it is now obvious that it is a picture of a new bike.
I have now posted a picture of the actual bike which is sort of OK and shows only 6415 miles.

The belt drives did not come out until 1982 on the 305's. They did change the clutch actuation system from a pushrod system in 81 to a thru the cover system in 82. Other than that they are pretty much the same. I don't know how you plan on riding it but I have found out that if you want to lower the highway revs a bit, you can add a tooth to the front sprocket by getting a stock KZ550 sprocket. It bolts right on with no issues at all. I'm not sure what the exchange rate is from the dollar to the pound currently last I remember it was about $1.70 to the pound which puts you in the 700 dollar range, not too bad for a nice low mileage example. Here is a pic of the one I have residing in the basement.

Thanks Gringo for the tip about the sprocket I'll see how it rides. I will probably only be using it for local rides and not too much cruising so it may be OK as it is. The exchange rate at the moment is about $1.95 to £1 so I have paid a shade over $800 for it- that woould be a pretty fair price over here, not a steal but OK if the miles are genuine.
