I was downstairs messing around with my bikes tonight, and for the first time I put them both back on their center stands at the same time. My 650 feels really heavy when I'm putting it up, but my 750 feels 50 lbs lighter. I figured the engine was lighter with 2 fewer cylinders, but according to the specs on the site here it's only 1 kg lighter.
I've been racking m brain for the last 2 hours and can't figure what makes it feel so significantly different. Is it because the weight is distributed differently? Please help me sleep tonight:)

My guess would be the difference in the height you are having to lift the bike onto the center stand. If the height of the center stand is significantly longer than the height of the bike resting on the ground just on its wheels, it might seem heavier because you are having to lift the weight of the bike further--having to lift more unsprung weight.
My bike really feels heavy to lift onto my center stand so I usually back the rear wheel onto a 2 x 4 then lift the bike onto the center stand. Believe it or not, it is easier to get onto the stand this way.

Technique plays a big part in getting any bike up on a centerstand. The key is to step down on the stand using your weight as opposed to trying to lift the bike up with your right arm. Your arm should be used to steady the bike only. Back when I worked at a dealership I used to love it when some big gorilla would come in and complain he couldn't get his bike on the stand. At the time I weighed about 125 lbs soaking wet and when I told them I could do it the usual reaction would be a laugh followed by a "no way". The look on their face when I did it was like the commercial says.....Priceless. The 2X4 trick suggested by Grant works well also.
