I own a 1983 KZ750F LTD. I am not that thrilled with the OEM raised and swept back handle bars. Does someone have a recommendation for a handlebar that is straighter but not necessarily cafe racer bars? Will the R model type bar work?

Yeah, anything but stock buck-horn style roto-tillers that you have will be an improvement...but, I have to go with z1rick's recommendation. I doubt that you have to change anything with those bars...and you should experience a drastic handling improvement.

My 1100 Spectre has the same style bars. I don't like them either but I do want a upright riding position. I picked up a old Voyager cop bike for parts for cheap. I plan to use the adjustable handlebars from it. They are 7/8" on the ends so the 1100 controls will fit but the bottom of the bars is 1" so I will have to ream the risers on the 1100 so they will fit.
