That would be a nice buy, although it isn't a 1975 model. It's a 1976 KZ400D3.
And funny enough, if it never has been registered before it will registered as a 2007 model and you won't be able to get a classic bike insurance.B)

That is pretty impressive! Makes me wonder though, if you fired it up how many rubber seals are potentialy rotted? Might have to do some major resealing. Lots of people don't realize this when something sits untouched for 10,20,30 years. I see it a lot in cars.

1980 KZ650F1, Bought new out the door for $2,162.98!

That is a major concern.
On the other hand, I hope it will go to a museum.

Anyone who doubts how nice that bike is need simply compare it to my 76 D3. I'd kill for it to look like that (I'm a big fan of the color, too...far more than the blue I have)

1976 KZ 400 (Free, free, free...needs major work)
2004 Intruder Volusia
ex- 1976 KZ 400 Hot rod (Owned by return2ridin before me and Wolfencopter after me. Does anyone have it now
?)
ex- 1978 KZ 200
Bergen County, NJ

Aint no time to hate....barely time to wait

The bike looks nice, but my crap detector is buzzing! Seller states "It is obviously 100% original, has never had petrol or oil in it, and has never run." Sorry folks, but Kawasakis are shipped to the dealers with "shipping oil" in the engine. I reference this from the Kawasaki "Assembly & Preparation Manual." The dealer, in setting up the bike to sell, in addition to installing the front wheel, seat, turn signals, etc. onto the bike would drain the shipping oil and put in the recommended motor oil. No bike left a dealer without this procedure or the warranty would be paying for a new engine as soon as the buyer fired up the bike. Another question is how did the bike get 1.5 miles on the odometer with no fuel (a lot of pushing?) Finally, I see rust on the bottom of the seat pan (at hinges and vent holes) and at the end of the muffler - why? And then of course there's the rust on the centerstand extension (just outboard of the rubber bumper). My bike has that same mark caused by that part of the centerstand touching the road during "spirited" left hand turns.

It would be interesting to see a close-up of the disk rotors, sprocket/chain, footpegs, center of tire tread, and other areas that would more clearly show road wear if not replaced. Ed

I know it sounds fishy, but I can balieve it has never been ran. When I was at the vocational school, we had several old Hondas that had NEVER been fired. They where donated by Honda technical schools and didn't even have VIN numbers on the frame head, but the VIN area ststed "FOR EDUCATIONAL TRAINING ONLY.NOT TO BE REGISTERED", or something to that effect. These bikes all had about 2 miles from being pushed around since the early eighties. There was: 2 CBX's, 2 of the V-Twin Turbo bikes (I think CX650?), and about 10 of the old CB400 Automatics. All of the bikes where cut up with torches so that NO USABLE PART REMAINED! We even cut up the seats and tires. It was very sad.

When these bikes were crated at the factory the instruments was covered the same way as the instruments on the bike that's up for sale. A close up of one of the mufflers also shows that there are no soot where it normally should be some if the bike has been ridden. And it's the same thing with the chain and rear sprocket and sprocket carrier.
