I'd start by taking an inventory of everything that's been changed on the bike; then try to determine what else (like the engine) had been monkeyed with before making an offer. Example: the carbs were changed so did the PO fiddle with the cams or any other internals? Looks like the plug caps and wires are different, are coils and ignition components stock? The seat needs to be replaced. The side covers on all GPZ's that I've seen say GPZ750 not KZ750. The mirrors are ugly, could they be stock? What other things have been tampered with (shocks, brakes, ????) If you decide to make an offer, use these issues to negotiate a better price. Ed

he has the stock side covers, seat and carbs for it,dont know why he switched them out also it's got a good inspection till 10/08 so im assuming that it dosent blow any smoke.he wants 1000 for it,im gonna throw him a curveball and see if he drops it down to 800.the only thing that sux is that it's a long ass ride and if i get there and it's a pos it's gonna be a huge waiste of time and gas...thanks everyone

sorry, the pics you see here i had to scale down so you really cant get a good look at stuff. He wanted a grand for it.i blew the pics up and noticed alot of stuff on it.the tank had rust spots all over it,the seat is done,it looks like he layed it down on the left side, the clutch lever and the exhaust on that side are bent and scraped up,theres stuff hanging down by the top of the rear tire, didn't know what it was and a few other stuff i was concerned about so i gave him an offer of anywhere from 6 to 800 depending on when i get there...he never mailed back

found another one in ohio, this one needed a starter and a clutch and hasent run in over a year, emailed him and this is what he sent me

"Wow thats quite a distance, I really don't mind the questions at all. Well first of all the tires are older but still have some miles left in them. It has never been layed down however a frined of mine was sitting on it and fell over with it. It put a small scatch about 1 1/2" long on the tank but no dent and a small scrape on the clutch housing. Other than that it is in excellant condition for its age. The only other thing cosmetically thats it needs is a turn signal lens on the front left, again very minor. As far as rust There is very little if any. The bike has been stored inside its whole life and I actually wire brushed the frame about 6 yrs ago and re-painted the frame with a rust absorbing paint and then re-coated it again with a gloss black which is original. The clutch needs to be replaced as it slips to bad to ride. The carbs have been jetted and new carb kits installed. The plastic is original condition, no scapes, dents or fading. The bike has not run for about a yr and a half. The tank was drained at that time however so a simple washing out of the tank to get anything that may be in there out will be enough. It will take a little work to get it back on the road, but the bike is in great condition and has low mileage only a little over 15K. If you have any further question about the bike please feel free to ask. I have attached 2 pics for you one of either side"

in his classified he wanted 1200 i asked him again what he wanted, figuring he went down in price since no one wanted it,he hasent mailed back yet gonna shoot him another email today...sorry for the loooong post, have to tell the whole story :P

found another one, this guy tells me that this bike beutiful with 15 on the clock, header and pipe,k+n,jetted blah blah blah.waiting for pics on that one.im goona post pics of the second one in a sec ,i have to resize them

This second one looks like a much better deal! Seems like it would be worth more even if just because it looks like it hasn't been hacked on. Hope you can get one that will be a good ride for you.:)

yea that second one is much nicer and i was thinking the same thing about the pipe...butt ugly.what sucks is that it dosent run so i cant tell what shape the motors in,right off the bat i need a new clutch and it's a 7hr ride for me...long way to go for somthing that dosen't run.i ahd a 650 back in the day and i liked it,rode a dudes gpz 550 when they first came out and fell in love with it,now that i caught the bug again thats what i want.i bought my 750 ,thats in pieces for 300,i don't see myself finishing it,if at all,by next year so im looking for something i can ride without having to tear it all down

Yeah! I'm kinda in the same boat. I got a good deal on a 750E2, but it's gonna take a lot of time and nickle-and-dime costs to get it where I want it. Also got a good deal on a '87 BMW K75. This one would take less time to get it ready, but larger chunks of cash at a time.

I keep looking at/for other bikes and my wife says,"Why don't you just spend the money to get the bikes we already have ready instead of buying another one?"

But, but, but... I wanna ride NOW!!!!
