The only reasonable choice is the new Concours 14.

I totally agree with that! That bike has it ALL. I fell in love at the dealership a few weeks ago. I mean I liked the old model, but the 2007+ version is sooooooo much better!

i think zrx are the way to go, but the problem is that the prices are way up since they quit offering them in the us. you can go with a bandit and have all the same features as the zrx but with a lower price. and they still produce them here, so older models will actually be cheaper, too. classic engine that is still being used is good enough for me right there. i hear its tough too...

I think maybe you haven't been watching the market. The ZRX prices are down and have been for a while. The new Z1000 is supposed to pick up both the old Z1000 market and the ZRX market b/c of the in-between riding psition and the smoothed out performance. (supposed to...right!)
The 1100 ZRXs are going for 2500 constantly and you can find a 1200 for similar money if you wait and pounce. There was a California ZRX 1200 that went for $2500 very recently out of L.A. off the Craig's list. That's cheap for a ton of good usable power in a good looking package.

The Bandits are a good cheap bike that offers a ton of bang for the buck. They're better if you're looking for motor mods and have significantly more aftermarket support b/c of common parts with the oil/air gixxers. BUT if you want to compare handling, ride a Bandit, then a ZRX; the Bandit is a pig. Just some "been there, rode that" thoughts for ya! Happy hunting.:)
