'81 750 on ebay?
11 Oct 2007 07:27
Saw this on ebay, can pick it up locally. If price stays way low would it be worth it to me? Will stator cover, gauges, maybe forks, etc, work on my bike? If parted out, would rest of it generate any interest on ebay or is it a bike no one really cares about?

It is very hard to tell from that picture, but my best guess is that it is a KZ750E, but with a different tank, and a duckbill off of a 650, all badly put together. (I am basing that upon its similarity to one of my bikes, especially the axle on the bottom of the fork -- the KZ750H has the axle mounted in front of the forks.) The fork tubes are 38mm diameter, so if yours are too that would probably work for you. Alternatively, you could probably use the tripple clamps from this 750 to mount onto your frame as a direct bolt on.
The engine components are the same as the later model 650's, except for the jugs and the head. Those pipes would fit almost any 650 or 750.
The brakes are the same as the early KZ1000 police bikes. You could probably use those wheels too.
I would bet there are a lot of parts you could use to fix up your bike. You could certainly part it out, since many of the parts work on other KZs, especially the 650 and 750 fours.
I hope you get it for next to nothing.

PREVIOUS KZs: 1980 KZ750H with 108,000 miles; 1980 KZ750E with 28,000 miles; and KZ750H street/cafe project, all sold a few years back.
This is what I do for fun, not for work. It is art, with a little engineering thrown in.

Nope, fork tubes are 36mm, same as the 650 (at least on the 750E), the 83-85 GPz750 only has 37mm fork tubes. the 81 -82 KZ1000 CSR and LTD had 38mm fork tubes.
The page linked says "Listing has been removed", but I'm pretty sure I saw it earlier, I do a daily search for kz750/kz 750/gpz/gpz750
