Z1RII exhaust needed was created by mick
Hi, i'm rebuilding a 80' Z1RII D3. This bike was never sold here in Germany. So it was very hard to get parts. Now the problem is the LH muffler.I have all parts to start the projekt,but....
The muffer is NOS and i try to get one for a long time.Does some one know if there is a replica muffler available in the US or anywhere?????? Or does some one have a LH muffler in good shape for sale ???????

Thanks, Mick

I think you best bet it to keep an eye out on Ebay USA or try asking around on one of the z1/kz sites. Good Luck!

Hope you can acquire the exhaust you need. It might be a little tough to find. Please post some pics when you can...........I always liked the 80 model Z1R.

Mick,
Yes, please post pics. I believe there are a few differences in the Z1Rs that you in Germany had that the rest of the world may (or may not) have ever seen. I think you had a larger fuel tank, longer rear fender (some law???), and a few other things that elude my mind at the moment. Anyway, are you planning on a stock restoration? Or what modifications?

The "Ebony" Z1RII was never sold here in Germany.Only in the US and in Italy. This is the reason why it is so hard to find this Z1RII parts.
Yes im planing a stock restoration.Only one modification. Lester wheels.I got a pair in mint condition for only 75 EUR :woohoo:
I have a new fairing and tail pice, the other body parts are in nice shape. It took a long time to find all this parts.
Yes there are some differences between the US and German Z1R.(blue)D1.
We had 3 gas tanks 13stock,18 and 22 Liters. The rear fender is longer, the turn lights has longer steems, the rear ar not monted at the fram, they are monted at the rear light bracket. The kick stand has a switch. You can not start the bike if the kick stand is not in hinged position.
AND we had a Z1000SA Z1R with 4into4 exhaust.
Here is a pic of my D1 at a classic bike show

In the next time i will post some pics of my D3.

Mick,
Very, very nice. Hey, if you have a line on one of those 22 litre fuel tanks I'd be interested.;)
Also, do you have any pics of a Z1R with 4-into-4 exhaust? That's one that I didn't know about!:)

Yes, I'd seen pictures of those 22liter tanks for the Z1R...and they are monsters...presumably they were supplied for the 'autobahn' experience. The South African 1981 GS1100 was also supplied with a stock oversized tank...maybe there weren't gas stations between Capetown and Johannesburg:laugh:

If any KZR members need a peek at a real KZ1000S model there is one featured in 'Z1 - The Movie':) I'm thinking that the KZ1000A1/2 also both stylistically benefit from the addition of the Z1 style pipes...they don't 'work' on the KZ1000A3/4, though.:)
