1/4 mile times

I was wondering if anyone here has a kz1000 with a 1075 with header dyna coils and ignition.That they race,and what kind of 1/4 mile times are they doing etc.Mod aswell any good ones?
I have a 1978 kz1000 1075 dyna everything jetted 29mm smooths with a stock cam and a header.Going racing this weekend want to get some numbers see what i can do.Also at sealevel.

I have a KZ1000 with a 1075 kit, 29mm smoothbores with a V&H header. Everything else is stock including a stock wheelbase using a 130mm rear tire. I ran in the low 11.6's (11.63 if I remember right)a month ago with the temperature in the lower 90's and a full tank of gas. I have no idea what the elevation is at Byron, Illinois though. Brother claims I have run in the 11.4's, but I don't remember doing it.

In 1980 with a 1075 rc equiped motor
.350 lift cams,29 smoothies,Racer-one pipe
with medium baffle,K&N filters mirrors etc
still attached,I weighed 180 then,I ran a
best of 11.52 on a Goodyear 130 rear street
tire(piece of crap).I ran alot times in the
11.50s.

Wow if you consider it these bikes are only 1 to 3 quarter of a second behind the modern fantastic plastics.

Ask them how many runs they did before getting a consistant time, and how many total passes made on their bikes? Usually near 30-50 I would guess. Consistancy takes time.

1 second in the quarter equals out to a few lengths,and in the street forget about.

Another Hi-Jack! It's a possibility. Wheelstanding contest going on this week-end. They put on quite a show. I've seen guys with $$$$$ in their cars stand em on the back bumper and crush the pan on re-entry. Never understand it! I'm waiting for a crank to come in and if it does, I'll probably go to deliver it to my cousin who will meet me there. BUT...as of now, it's doubtful. Next couple days will tell. If I go, I'll get on here and let you know.

Actually 120MPH is close to 180' per second. A second is a "life time" in a dragrace

The Stock '84 GPz550 can do 12.74 @ 102 mph in the 1/4 mile.

I did 11.53 on a stock wheelbase '79 ltd 1000. Had a 1105 kit, 29's, dyna S & coils. That was my 2nd time at the track ever.

Well, though some rose-tinted glasses maybe. Add similar mods to a modern bike and you are back to 2 seconds.
