of a KZ100J with the slab-sided tank that some markets got, as opposed to the bulgy LTD style tank that most of them came with in North America ?? Apparently Canada got BOTH styles but not in all three model years. I've got a shot at picking one up but it's got the LTD-style tank on it and that'd have to go. I'd be doing a nice resto and I kinda like the two tone blue paint that the UK/Euro (and some Canadian) bikes had on them in '81.....so I'd like some high res shots of that bike, if possible. Is there a site somewhere that has downloadable shots of the original J's ??
Thanks for any help anyone can give me with this.

Thank you, bobz1 and rstnick. Those pics show the two "faces" of the 1000J. In fact, I'm not usre that the bike we have at work doesn't have ANOTHER style of tank entirely because it doesn't look exactly like the pic posted by bobz1.
I've seen 1000J's offered for sale with the slab-sided tank as per rstnick's pic of the 1100R but those pics are too small to really make out the details.
On a related note: can anyone tell me if the frames of the 1000J were all the same....or were they different to cater for the LTD-style tank as per bobz1's pic ??

the pic I posted is a true J model with a US J model stock tank. the LTD tank has a similar paint scheme but is shaped differently. the Canadian version seems to use the GPz1100 style tank. I have some LTD pics somewhere, I will try to find them.......

I am fairly certain the frames are different since the J has a tail and the LTD?CSR don't.

In 79 they went to the "square" tank on the mkII, A2 and shaft models. The shaft tank will not work on any other bike I beleive. The LTD models kept the "teardrop" tank. I'm not sure if the square tank will fit on the LTD but I'm sure someone will chime in and let you know. The LTD frames are different than the other models so I would guess the square tanks won't fit on the ltd frame.

I have seen many bikes with gas tank swaps.
On ebay there is a 77 with a 82 ELR tank.
Alot of people put LTD tanks on their KZ1000s.

Thank you, lorcan. Great looking ride !!! That's the slab-sided style tank I was referring to. Now the next thing is to find one that fits this J that I'm looking at. The tank that's currently on it is NOT, to my eye, an LTD tank....but it's not far off. Everything on this bike looks original including the seat/cover but the side covers just say "KZ1000"....no "LTD"....no "1000R"
no "GPZ"...but the tank is this weird shape...and it fits correctly. Pics to follow tomorrow night, if possible.
