No, there was no KZ900B2 model, but there was a KZ1000B1 that year.

And, H2RICK, if you are confused now, log on to some of the Japanese Z sites and you'll find some that list the following: 1972 = Z1, 1973 = Z1A, and 1974 = Z1B. One of these sites, in particular, has fueled the insistence of certain anorakian Z1 owners that the late 1972 released Z1's be called '1972' year models rather than 1973 year models. All this stems from how different countries recognize the naming conventions for the new year models...

I think one of my grandfathers was an Anorakian cuz I do have an interest in frame/engine numbers versus year and models, etc.....or maybe he was an accountant... :ohmy:
Whatever, the whole thing is such a mishmash and the scarey part is that the Japanese are such an orderly and logical (usually) people. Of course, having the Lincoln plant producing parallel models doesn't help sort out things either....:(
