For the time being, I'm having to park my KZ650 on the back patio. It'll be that way for at least 6 months.

What are the best options in motorcycle covers for it?

a good bike cover, then a good waterproof/hurricane proof tarp over that, then park it under a carport, in a shed, or roll it into the kitchen :silly:

make sure its far fromwhere hoodlims can get to it.

In the login column under the essentials "Ridegear" site, a search for "bike cover" shows the following.

Haven't used any of these. :)

Forgot to mention having in the past seen ebay listings for new decent looking covers at supposedly steeply discounted prices.

Would study the specs and assure maximum protection from the elements, and that the cover is "breathable" so the bike won't tend to quickly rust as it will if stored for any length of time at all under a "plastic" type tarp. :)

Thanks for the help.

I have questions about fit/etc. Most of the covers I see there and other places I've searched appear to be made for bikes with windshields. Some offer the option to choose "sport bike", or "cruiser"; I wonder which would fit better?

Does anyone have a cover they've bought and been happy with?

Also, if there's not going to be any rain, should the cover be put on to protect from dew?

I'm thinking the simplest way to secure it would be with short bungee cords run across the bottom, grommet to grommet. Is that right?

The bike is a daily rider (or will be, if I can ever get it running right!). I'll be buying a house in the next 6 months-1 year, and will have a garage for it then. Until that time, I just want to protect it from the weather as best I can.

I guess you're talking about longer-term storage there. I bought the bike to be a daily driver, but, I'm sure cold and inclement weather will force me to sometimes park it for weeks at a time, so that will surely be an issue. My question is, if you put the tarp over the cover (or under it), wouldn't it tend to hold in moisture from condensation? If the bike cover is breathable to stop that condensation from being trapped, doesn't the tarp defeat that purpose?

As far as keeping it safe from thieves, that's why I'm going to put it on the back patio, versus in the driveway. I have a 6' wood fence around my yard, and have a lock on the gate.

As already stated, never use a dollar store tarp or sheet of plastic.
