Hey pumps, I'll be riding to KC this weekend. Going to a HD factory open house with some buds. I'll be the only one on a decent bike though. They're all dyed in the wool Harley riders. Lookin like it might rain though.

When I was stationed at Norton AFB near San Bernardino CA I lived in North Hollywood for awhile, about a 75 mile trip each way.

I'll be on duty at the station on Saturday but Sunday I'm off. If you come in town on Saturday you could ride by the station. We are in the area where most people come to from out of town.If the weather's good I ride in.My battalion chief has a harley.

...Who has a long commute?
It's 27 miles from driveway to my office building, but since I'm a consultant, I often go elsewhere, and that could be anything.
I ride the bike everyday that my computer won't get wet through my backpack.
The only sucky part is showing up at a customer site with helmet-head...

Dude! You said "Eddyville" Iowa...holeeeeeee crap! They used to have a drag-strip there and me and a friend went there back in the late 80s just to see what was in the area. We made one pass and my buddy set the track record...wanna know why? GRAVEL SHUT DOWN AREA!!! That's right, I think it was a 1000ft track or an 1/8th, but it had a gravel shut down area and my buddy's bike did well over 100 in the 8th back in the day. He was way ahead of me, don't know what I was doing (speed wise), but when I hit the gravel I about soiled my shorts, all I could see in front of me was a red tail light on a built, stretched, slammed, and strutted Z-1 with a ton of gravel dust in between us. Can you imagine going WELL over 100mph on gravel on a bike that's raked and on struts?...he brought it in, though.
The announcer was a little ... um, er, ... "back water"-ish  and we had been making fun of his "gimme a great big doo-dah!" thing that he'd say and make the crowd go nuts. When we got the bikes under control and we were shaking our way back to the pits there were people waiting for us patting Dan on the back telling him how cool it was to see a bike go that fast. Ha!!! When he got his helmet off he was cussing like a sailor about the shut down area. ...we packed it up and went home...they were trying to get us on the microphone for a commentary and give Dan a tropy as we were driving out the gate, but Dan was pissed (). There had to have been 3 thousand people there in that little town at that little track...just amazing.
Dan cussed all the way back to Topeka. ...Eddyville...haaaaaa! :woohoo:
Oh yeah: I drive 112 miles door to door every other day. (M/W/F), so about 225 round trip. Some days I take a bike, some days I don't, just depends on what I have to have with me. This is going to change in the next few years (maybe months) ... it's not the long-term plan.
Eddyville...haaaaaaaa! :woohoo:
