I have quit my part time working for a contractor and now have me as a boss doing my OWN thing.I used to leave the fire station and go right to work and was not able to ride the SR into work (van has the tools) unless it was a weekend day that I was on duty. Now I ride every day:P :P :P unless it is going to rain. I ride about 13 miles each way so about 26 total.I can get to the station in 15 minutes at 600AM .
Who has a long commute?

My commute is 34.5 mi each way. But it's been a bear on the bike because of road construction with the temps in the mid to upper nineties. So most of the time I take my air conditioned truck.
Hey pumps, I'll be riding to KC this weekend. Going to a HD factory open house with some buds. I'll be the only one on a decent bike though. They're all dyed in the wool Harley riders. Lookin like it might rain though.

I dont ride the bike to work, dont take the truck either, my commute is a 120 foot walk from the back door to the office, it really sucks in the rain though, and it has been doing that alot.
But then going out to the jobs around town I put on about 500 to 600 a week, I dont really want to ride a bike around Houston traffic during the day

I work 1.5 miles straight south of me on a rural highway, saves a lot on gas compared to the 14 miles to the previous job :)

When I was stationed at Norton AFB near San Bernardino CA I lived in North Hollywood for awhile, about a 75 mile trip each way.

I'll be on duty at the station on Saturday but Sunday I'm off. If you come in town on Saturday you could ride by the station. We are in the area where most people come to from out of town.If the weather's good I ride in.My battalion chief has a harley.

It's 27 miles from driveway to my office building, but since I'm a consultant, I often go elsewhere, and that could be anything.

I ride the bike everyday that my computer won't get wet through my backpack.

The only sucky part is showing up at a customer site with helmet-head...

I've got my hair short enough that I don't worry about it anymore.

Pumps, if we make it into town, we'll try to stop by.
But we'll be heading back to St Louis Sunday morning.

back in the early 90s before i opened my own shop i worked for a contractor out of davenport ia that used to work me all over the country.it wasnt too bad most of the time if i was too far from home id find a cheap hotel to sleep at,or if i was going to be there an extended amount of time id find a cheap apartment to rent.we wired a big addition on a proctor and gamble plant in a town called Eddyville(spell check:P )iowa and i couldnt find a place to stay so i was driving back and forth to bellevue ne everyday:blink:    :S     id get about 2-3 hours of sleep a night at home and start driving and stop at every reststop in between and sleep 10-15 minutes and drive again!we were working 6 days a week 12-14 hours a day for about 3 months on that fiasco,ah to be young and stupid again!:Pjust googled eddyville,207 miles one way to edge of town! figure a 450 mile round trip everyday not including working all day,but i made a truckload of money in those days!no wonder i hate driving so much!!!!!!!!!!:P

i only live 1.4 miles from work so there is no point in me riding the bike to work. she is not even fully warmed up by the time i get there.
i do on the days all of us are going for a little putt after work. usually on wendsdays going to the local hangout.
i'm so lame i only have about 800 miles on her this year. noone wants to just ride with no destanation in sight anymore
before i got married we used to just head in a direction and see where we ended up.
now we need to know where we are going etc.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

PLUMMEN,
Dude! You said "Eddyville" Iowa...holeeeeeee crap! They used to have a drag-strip there and me and a friend went there back in the late 80s just to see what was in the area. We made one pass and my buddy set the track record...wanna know why? GRAVEL SHUT DOWN AREA!!! That's right, I think it was a 1000ft track or an 1/8th, but it had a gravel shut down area and my buddy's bike did well over 100 in the 8th back in the day. He was way ahead of me, don't know what I was doing (speed wise), but when I hit the gravel I about soiled my shorts, all I could see in front of me was a red tail light on a built, stretched, slammed, and strutted Z-1 with a ton of gravel dust in between us. Can you imagine going WELL over 100mph on gravel on a bike that's raked and on struts?...he brought it in, though.
The announcer was a little ... um, er, ... "back water"-ish  and we had been making fun of his "gimme a great big doo-dah!" thing that he'd say and make the crowd go nuts. When we got the bikes under control and we were shaking our way back to the pits there were people waiting for us patting Dan on the back telling him how cool it was to see a bike go that fast. Ha!!! When he got his helmet off he was cussing like a sailor about the shut down area. ...we packed it up and went home...they were trying to get us on the microphone for a commentary and give Dan a tropy as we were driving out the gate, but Dan was pissed (). There had to have been 3 thousand people there in that little town at that little track...just amazing.
Dan cussed all the way back to Topeka. ...Eddyville...haaaaaa! :woohoo:

Oh yeah: I drive 112 miles door to door every other day. (M/W/F), so about 225 round trip. Some days I take a bike, some days I don't, just depends on what I have to have with me. This is going to change in the next few years (maybe months) ... it's not the long-term plan.

Eddyville...haaaaaaaa! :woohoo:
