E-85 eythonal? was created by themachine
has anyone tried running their bike on e-85? does anyone know what it takes to run an old kaw on it? ie:jets, compression ect ect.

what are the benifits, will it run cooler than gasoline? will it make more powah?

E85 (85% Ethanol and 15% gasoline) is real similar to running straight alcohol, in other words, 2-3 times as much fuel to make the same power as gasoline.

Bumping up the compression ratio 1-2 points and installing a set of carbs designed to use alcohol would be a good start.

Your stock carbs are simply unable to flow enough fuel to use E85, the fuel passages are to small.

I though E85 was 85% gasoline and 15% ethanol.

I have run E85 in a late model fuel injected pickup last year... Never again!

It may be cheaper by the gallon, but not by the mile.

it states that it eats aluminium in the fuel system, does anyone think my intake runners, pistons and combustion chambers take a beating?

hurm, no aluminium carbs, that sucks.

I did put it in the truck once, fuel mileage went way down, I would think you could run it in the bike but figure on loosing about 20% mileage plus you might even notice less power.
I dont think its worth the price at the pump

E85 on a pro street turbo bike would work.
On normal street bikes with stock compression
will loose fuel mileage and a little power.
The gas tank will need to be coated inside,a
stainless steel petcock will be needed, alcohol
proof fuel lines and carb floats. The carb bodies
and slides will need to be anodized or similar
coating applied.

i'm running 10.25:1 and would shave the head if i had to.

i'd just go with some aftermarket carbs.

my bike produces a burnt odor when ran on 91 it also pings when hot and looses power after its warm, i swithed to the hottest ngk plug a 10 and it got a little better but no dice, so i'm running 110 without a problem, however the stuff they sell at the pump locally has been giving peole (street/strip racers) problems so i have to buy it from a guy who distributes it out of his own garage locally.

thanks for the info guys, i'v got the tank kreem, i'll have to get some hoses and a different set of carbs to monkey with.
