A buddy of mine knows where one of these is sitting in a garage. I know it is a 2 stroke 3 cylinder but thats about it. Are these 2 smokers worth messing with?

I had one back in the day for a short time, bought it as a light wreck, fixed it and flipped it. They are the worlds fastest unicycles. Smack the gas, let off and smack it again and it'll stand straight up on the back wheel, was loads of fun back then. Worth messing with now? That depends on the condition I guess. They do tend to bring really stupid money on Ebay, as all the triples seem to IMHO. Parts can get really pricey too.

I do remember that the clutch plates in them are kinda weak. If memory serves me correctly they used the same clutch plates as the F6 and F7's which were 125 and 175 cc bikes. I can remember writing a warranty claim for one that broke a fiber plate and a piece of the plate jammed up the oil pump drive gear lunching the motor. New crank, pistons, cylinders etc. That was a really expensive warranty claim when it was all said and done.

They have probably the best/stiffest frame of all the 3 cylinder tripples, as they were one of the last to be designed, and improved on.

Wasn't it a KH400 featured in Gumball Rally?

It seemed rather representative based on Gringo's post.

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.
