Had a 82' KZ750 lTD. Sold it and have been looking for a kz1000. None to be found so far. I keep running across 75-76 KZ900's in pretty good shape lately. I test rode a 1000 and liked the bigger size of the motor and frame compared to the 750 I had. Before I start adding miles and wasting time driving around looking at these 900's maybe you can answer this for me......

Is the frame size and general bike size of a 900 closer to the 1000 or closer to a 750 ?
Is the 900 motor a bigger 750 cylinder or a smaller 1000 cylinder ? I liked the bigger motor on the 1000 than the 750 I had.

Thanks

The '73-'80 Z1/Kz900/1000 are all pretty much the same size physically. The 1000 is actually a bored out 900 engine.

Thanks Everyone,
I been to the dealer 3 times and almost bought a new Vulcan 1500 Classic. Its a nice bike but I just keep being drawn back to an old Classic like the KZ's are. Im not looking for a speed bike and I know cruisers are a totally different animal, but I just cant justify 4 years of payments for the type of riding I do. I would also hate to find out Im not crazy about the big heavy possibly slow bike right after I sign the papers and drive it home. I know V-twins arent speed demons but the 15 second 1/4 mile for a 1500cc bike seems a little slow.

Get both if you have the room, it's nice to have a new cruiser and of coarse must have the old bikes as well.
