Hello McGregor:

Generally speaking, for your bike, the frame VIN contains some information. The frame VIN is a series of alphanumerics. For the CSR this series would be JKAKZCM1#BA000001 (as the first CSR built) The '#' is a variable digit that changes w/each bike. The seventh letter is 'M' telling us it is an M model or CSR. A 'J' would have been a J model or Standard, and so on. Nothing in the frame VIN overtly tells us what year the bike was produced BUT the year of the model can be obtained by looking it up on www.zedder.com By 'it' I mean the last six numbers of the frame VIN. The production runs are generally known and if the number can be assigned to a known range (they are sequential), then it is that years' model.
