KZ GPz ? was created by Invicta 39
I have a 1982 "KZ750r1", but I have also been told that it is called a GPz750. Which is correct?

Both:) It was the first year for the GPz750's and the last year for the KZ750R1 line (twin shock)...all subsequent years were ZX750 (=GPz750).

So are they one and the same bike, or different depending on when they were built?
My bike has 2 shocks and the engine is black, if that helps.

As I stated, both. Note the bikes in my signature...I also have one. The beginning of the GPz line generally signified the end of the KZ line. As bikes changed to the monoshock design, they transitioned from the KZ designation to the ZX designation. 1982 was the last (and only) year for the GPz750 to be a KZ (aka KZ750R1), starting in 1983 the GPz750 was the ZX750A1. The GPz750 (as ZX) line persisted in North America into 1985 and 1988 in Europe.
