A guy here in Boise is selling a 1979 650. He doesn't give much info, I'm assuming it's a KZ650; it looks like a 4 cylinder. Says it runs good. From the pictures, it looks to be in decent shape.

Kelly's Blue Book says the selling price is around $900. I can't find any other used MC pricing sites. He's asking $1500.

What do you think? What is a reasonable price, assuming decent shape, runs good, no real problems? 21,000 miles

Can see it here. 4 pictures.

Assuming there are NO issues with bike and it runs perfect, doesn't need anything replaced such as chain, tires, cables, etc. etc. I'd pay about $1000 for it. But that'd have to be in perfect mechanical condition. If you'd have to replace anything at all that cool grand would drop in a hurry.

Good lord that thing is ugly as it currently sits. You have to figure at least $100.00 to replace that butt ugly seat. The rest of the Hillbilly add-ons can either be sold to another Hillbilly or thrown in the trash. If it runs out good with no apparent problems I'd say $800 to $1000 would be about right.

$1500 is almost twice what any of us would pay for it. On ebay it might bring $1100 if it is real clean and shiny. I wouldn't pay more than $600 for it but then again great deals seem to come my way everyday so my acceptable prices have gone way down. That trunk looks like it is made of wood. If someone was cheap enough to make a wooden box then you have to think about what elese they might have skimped on like oil changes and general maintenance.

Ya know, I agree. That has got to be the ugliest seat I've seen since the one on my ex-wife. I'll be checking it (the bike) out tomorrow.

Will check for wear in the forks, swing arm, engine of course, lights, rust in the tank, noise in the engine, general fit and polish. I'll let you know how it looks. I'll check out anything else you guys recommend, uh, bike wise.

Thanks for the tips. I agree; 800-1000. So far it's looking about 850, tops. Agree that 1500 is about double what it's really worth.

Yup. Start at $500 if it runs good and no higher than $800 if it were me. I agree with everyone else. Midway through riding season, pricing gets flexible.

Your gonna have a hell of a time trying to pawn that seat off on any "REAL" KZ owner.
May even have to pay someone to take it. If it had "MY seat on it, maybe I would go $300 for it.

But then again, I got a KZ900 (Z1) for $50 so I am a cheap bass-turd.
