My Stepsons Dad bought just him a 98 KX100 on the weekend...
First ride out,I have to drive up the mountain and retrieve it.Get it home and tear it apart...bottom con-rod seized to the crank.
And yes,the gas was mixed properly.
So Ya...We're all pretty upset... more so the Father,as it just cost Him $1600.00:(
I've got some lines on parts, between My Friends shop out here and e-bay,but what I REALLY need at this point is ya...a manual for this bike.
I'll be doing the work here Myself,but I can't do much without a Service-Bible.
I've checked e-bay,and there IS a Seller who's selling c.d.manuals for a lot of dirt-bikes,but nothing for this one,unfortunately.
If Anyone has a lead on a Bible,I'd be so grateful.Preferably a Factory Kawi Bible.

ALSO...if Anyone happens to have the same bike for parts?...
Thanks Gang.

no im saying that the gas/oil in tank is seperate from the oil in crankcase ,so even if you dump 50:1 in tank instead of 20:1 it shouldnt affect the bearings in bottem end of motor.or have i taken too many of the purple pills causing my brain to float a valve? :P

Yep...too many purple ones,Bud.
The crank is NOT sitting(bathed) in oil...it gets lubed from the gas/oil mixture You put in Your gastank.
The dipstick is for checking the oil in the tranny and the clutch...You Guys are SHARING the pills, aren't You?

The two stroke bike engines that I have worked on had a roller bearing on the con rod. It is possible that the bearing seized and spun on the crank though.

On two stroke bike motors, the oil/fuel mix is drawn through the intake, travels into the crankcase, lubricates the crank and rod bearing(s), then up and through a port in the cylinder wall into the cylinder. The sole reason for mixing oil with the gas is to lubricate the crank and rod bearings.

If the crankcase contains oil, then there would be no reason to mix oil with the gas, ie, two stroke diesels (Detroit and Cummins are two that used to make two stroke truck diesel motors).

Two stroke bike motors are super easy to rebuild :)

What appears to be oil for the crankcase on 2-strokes is just transmission oil. That oil tends to stay very clean (no combustion crud) so it can go years without changing.

Sorry to hear about the seizure. Do you think it was a lemon someone was ditching, or just plain bad luck?
