Be carefull. The V-Max is a bad machine. 145hp is no joke. If the rider is new you might have a chance but a skilled rider on a V-max against a stock KZ will win every time.

I'm on a 650 but (sorry guys) even a good running 1000/1100 does not stand a chance against a V-Max. Back in the 80's Pee Wee Gleason who could take ANY bike and within 3 runs have the best time possible put a V-Max in the mid 10's. Stop light to stop light they are virtually unbeatable!!

How about a ZXR 12 against a V-Max? Any thoughts?

The V-Max is a kick-ass bick and I speak from personal experience I recently sold a 1998 model with a turbonetics turbo system and a few other relatively mild mods. That coupled with a 6-inch over swingarm and a 250 tire conversion made for realy nasty holeshots, dyno-proven 200 horses(228 to be exact) at the rear wheel and in stop light to stoplight it almost was too easy. Never lost to another cruiser and the only sport bikes I ever lost too where boosted' busa's and that was at drag strips, undefeated in the street game.(most stoplight races are WAY under a quarter or even an eighth mile) So beware the V-Max unless you are seriosly prepared or riding a full on rail-bike. As a side note I got rid of the bike because it was such a handful too ride after a couple hundred miles on the highway I was totally exhausted where as I can ride my KZ 4 and 5 hundred miles in a day and get off as refreshed as when I got on, say's a lot for ergonomic's doesnt it

The V-max is a bike that I always thought would be cool to own. I've never had the opportunity to ride one, the closest I've ever come is riding a Venture Royale. Back in 83 I rode one from Ohio to Tennessee and back. It really is an impressive bike even with a full touring package. The V-max is basically a stripped down high performance version of the same bike. Maybe some day I'll get a chance to throw a leg over one.
