Summer Riding

It took until mid-June, but it's going to be 100° or more, pretty much every day now. I'm going to change the oil this weekend from 10W40 to 20W50, and I'll be splitting lanes a little more often to keep air moving past the fins.
Can't wait for the Big Bear Ride... should be nice in the pines.

It has been getting a lot warmer lately. By the time I get home from work (in full leathers), I have to have my wife pull on the sleeves so I can unstick them from my shoulders. I wish I hadn't sold the textile jacket I had now.

Just came down from lake arrowhead yesterday, i'll be jealous if you're gonna cruise around on those kind of roads.:pinch:

92 when I rode in this morning.

Should be 110ish when I ride home tonight.

Yeah, riding in the desert summer heat brings a whole new meaning to the word "hot". I'm going with 20w-50 with some red bottle stp oil treatment. And of course my bike all have oil coolers. Are you taking the back route thru Victorsticks, Apple Valley, Lucerne then up to Big Bear? If I was closer or out at Edwards, I'd tag along ..........markerdown

Hey dude, where do you live?
I'm going take the 138 out to the 15. It splits after LittleRock, the north fork goes to victorville, and the south fork goes to Wrightwood & Cajon Junction. We're going to meet at Wrightwood, and then ride up to Crestline and on to Big Bear. Never been on a bike, but I've driven part of it in my car. Lots of twisties, and some nice scenery. Should be maybe 6 or 8 riders, you should GO!

Otherwise Id just be useful as the James Bond Bike (oil slick, smoke screen bike) :laugh:

I was stationed at George AFB, and at Edwards. I used to live in Apple Valley. I know that area of the high desert quite well. You're just a tad bit too far for me to tag along in this heat. Plus my luck, my Kaw would quit on a stretch of no-mans-land along I-15, like the Zzyxx cutoff. .............markerdown

Does red STP affect the clutch at all?

It tends to get up into the 100s here in July and August..and they're calling for a hot summer again this year, so it's something I'd definitely like to look into.

I'm sooo looking forward to this ride, hope the wifey doesn't come up with another weekend trip thing. I am going to drive the cage up to Sacramento, bout 380 miles or so, tonight! And it is already 10 minutes till 8:00 PM, Doh! Guess that is why she is driving, I will be sleeping, zzzzzzzzz...:whistle:

Markerdown, I was also stationed at George AFB, 35th FMS, Egress. But it was 35 years ago! Looking forward to being in the 80's in Big Bear!
