Crappy ride video
10 Jun 2007 17:48
I finally stuck my video camera to my bike Saturday and went for a nice ride out in the country. It was wonderful - warm, but not hot, sunny, I could feel the temperature change as I went into the valleys. Just awesome! The video, on the other hand, REALLY sucked! At first I figured it was worthless, then I had a silly idea to dub an appropriate song to it and post it up! The sound is pretty good, actually. I taped a large piece of sponge over the mics (stereo!) and it is not too bad at all in the sound department.
Video Here.

the song says it all. Have you thought about a different mounting for the camera?

Oh yea, definitely thinking of a new mount! This was just a tripod bungeed to the rear cowling. It seemed pretty solid, but I think the extension of the tripod, out in the breeze, enhanced the vibes, as it shook a bit even sitting still. I knew it was crap when I first looked at it, then decided to have some fun with it.
Here is the mount:

Yup,it was "Shakin" a bit,but hey...good idea...have to try it,right?
I thought when I made My mounting bracket, that it too, would shake, but I was surprised to see that it turned out as good as it did.
Your camera looks bigger than My Sony Cybershot, and with that much extended out...ya...it's going to shake.
Good vid though...keep trying different mounting areas.

Any ride video is a good video, shaken or not. Thanks for sharing, and you'll know what to do the next time. Duct Tape it to your helmet, or strap it to your leg. :woohoo:

Crappy video or not, it was an excellent effort!

Nice scenery, but I'm sending you the bill from my eye doctor!
The sponge trick over the mics worked great, I could barely hear any wind noise.
Like Sandy said keep trying, you'll eventually figure out a mounting that works for you.
Hey, at least it wasn't a 2 min long vid of a boot.
