1980 z1 classic info

just bought a 80 z1 classic and wanted some info on production # as in how many were built?.any trouble spotts to look for?

I think there were about 2300 built. Go to zedder.com and you can see the production numbers. Roy

Except for the fuel enjection they are about the same as any other KZ. The FI system was always a problem with them, even when new. Some worked good, others did not. Many people just slapped some carbs on it and actually got to ride it.

According to Zedders they produced 3200 of them. The computer seems to be what gave people the most trouble. The FI on the one I have still works good.

Was it the computer the controlled the FI? Maybe that is why people took off the FI.

my EFI is still working well (knocks wood).

Frame numbers 500001 - 503205 ~ 3200.

where are you located?

Yep the FI computer is housed in the rear of the seat under the passenger area. Typically the first time there was a problem with the FI rather than spend the money and fix it correctly, off came the FI and on went the carbs. Same thing that happened to the early FI Corvettes.
