I need a long ride to someplace blue and green. Getting pretty tired of the desert surrounding Palmdale.
Back to the Rock Store?

My favorite ride is going up to Idyllwild, but a lot of the roads I take are pretty twisty (might un-nerve some.

Twisties are fine with me, as long as you let me ride in the back so I don't slow you down:P

Either Idylwild or the Rock Store sounds fine with me.
Anyone have a suggestion for the date yet?

Well..if ya'll decide on Idyllwild, here is the route I take.
Start at 79 South in Temecula at the Shell station.
Ride east for approx. 15 or so miles.
Turn left onto Sage Rd (begin the twistie fun!!)
Turn right onto Wilson Valley Road
Turn left onto Hwy 371
Short pit stop in Anza for fuel/water/restroom
Continue on 371 to Hwy 74, turn left.
Hwy 74 to Hwy 243
243 down the hill toward Banning, turn around, go back up to Idyllwild for lunch at Joanne's.
Return trip is the reverse.

Looks like a good ride.
But it's a pretty long ride to the start point for me... I'm not sure about this one.

It's a fun ride, Wilson Valley is like a roller coaster with how the turns and hills are. I am aware of the haul you have to do from Palmdale, I wouldn't be very excited about that either.

There's always Highway 33 in Ojai,
the back way up Wrightwood/Mountain High/Angeles Crest,
In Santa Clarita we can do Lake Hughes (sp) Road, San Francisquito, Boquet Canyon, and some more I'm missing.
In the Santa Monica Alps, meet at the RockStore and spend the day going up and down Mulholland, Decker, Stunt Rd, Las Tunas Canyon (<-- this is one way, shoots out to PCH), Latigo Canyon, etc. I heard on the news though that there is a heightened police presence here, zero tolerance, at least until October.
Also, heard that Glendora Mountain Road was recently re-opened after being closed the last couple of years.
