Good Day at Bike Show..... KZ Wins.....
20 May 2007 05:21
I took the GPz and the Moto Guzzi to a show yesterday. Thunder on the Smoky in Marquette Kansas. This is there yearly event and usually 2500 bikes show for the Rally. Its definately catered to the HD crowd and looking down the street in looks like a herd of cattle with all that leather...
I entered the GPz and the Guzzi in the Stock Class. About 20 Bikes in the class. 80 Bikes overall at the show.
Here is where I got stunned. The GPz won Grand Champion (1st) in Stock. The Moto Guzzi, well, It won "Best in Show"
I was Blown away. With all the Big Dogs, Boss Hoss, and Harley's there, I never thought the Guzzi would Win Overall. Even the GPz was looked over a couple of times by the judges. They kept going back and forth between it and a 1985 Ducati English-Harris. The Ducati took 2nd.
Here are the pics. I hope the damn things are sized right.

OK I give up on the sizing. They are correct on Photobucket. All should be the same size.

Must have been those high dollar emblems you "wasted " your money on that did it.
Just kidding congrats on your win Richard you have reason to be proud. Nice to see that there are some judges out there that can see beauty in something besides all the billet and chrome customs. You do have an enviable collection of bikes.

Congratulations, Richard!
That is great. Proves that the judges were rather unbiased in their decisions.
From the pics, I'd say you were most deserving.

I got to Thank Wiredgeorge for the great carburetor work and super fast service. Thanks to his excellent service and very helpful website. If it wasn't for him, I would have pushed the GPz into the bike show. I got to ride it in which made things that much sweeter.
After the awards, you should have seen the gathering of people that came over to look at the bikes. I set up in the back of the park and didn't get a lot of lookers during the day. I expected that. But, after the awards, I think everyone was surprised and went to look at what won.
Another thing. After I got the carbs back from wiredgeorge, I couldn't get the GPz to run. He gave me several possibilities and I was able to fix it. It was voltage breakdown to the coils. I did the relay modification on his site and DAMN. I have a new bike....

Congratulations on the win. I didn't know about the show, but I've been meaning to get over to Marquette for a while to see the museum there. When do the monthly things down in Cassoday get started?

Museum is nice. A lot to look at. There are two museums there. The antique museum and the British bike museum. I haven't been to the Brit one yet.

Wow Richard...nice to hear you did well...dare I say it?...could people be getting tired of HD and crave something new at bike shows? The GPz is beautiful...but then I am biased. WooHoo!:woohoo:
