1977 kz650 b-1 winter project

I have a 77 650 b-1 and ill be rebuilding it over the winter. i NEVER rebuilt a motorcycle and this is my test subject. sorry it had to be a kawai! just starting to get into this bike, and going to pull engine off and do a top end rebuild (maybe 810cc kit) if i can find a good block to use!
i had problems with a dropping random cylinders when riding and low compression. and i think i need to set timing on cams to. it does have 27000+ miles and i dont know the history of the bike so i want to make it reliable and freshen it up! its got great potential, and runs ok but has more power to offer
ill post pics and more as i get deeper in to it.

Looks like a great candidate for "light" restoration...it looks to be complete, but in need of a little TLC. Just the kind you want to hone your cycle mechanical skills.
I've not taken on a complete basket case yet. The bikes I've bought through the years have been in need of a little cleaning, parts replacement, adjustment, grease/lube, riding and general upkeep.
Someday maybe I'll attempt a total rebuild/refurb...after that heated workshop gets built...and paid for!
