I bought this bike for my buddy the Flying Greek so he can get back into riding in his mid-life, divorced, lost youth world.

Paid $875CDN (about $750US), it hasn't been run in years, but all the chrome looks great! Plans:

- New Tires and Tubes
- Black Kerker
- Fender Eliminator
- Clean out carbs, pods, gas tank, and all the other things that are wrong with the bike.

To be done by Feb '07.

Can anyone identify these pod filters? They're filthy and oily. I'd like to clean them out but don't know how. They feel like they're worth $3...

This bike was also jetted with 115 mains for some reason. It must not have run very well when it did run. It needs 110s when I go to put the Kerker on and keep the pods.

Carb disassembly was not as scary as I thought - thanks to tganek again for showing me how simple it was. Thanks to tganek for also not lighting me on fire with bad gas.

Nice of you to get your buddy a bike and help him (He is helping right?) get it road worthy. And a 650 to boot.
Another one saved! B)

Can you get a close up of the pods. Look like the K&Ns I had on years ago.

I know you guys like pictures so I won't post an update without one! Sorry Rob, I forgot to get a close up of the pods, maybe next time.

I've been busy cleaning out the carb for the Rebel 250, but now I've finally got all the parts in for turn signals for my Red C2 bike and also replacements for broken ones on this Black bike (the B-2 as I call it).

Below is a plug for Meguiar's Metal Restorer.. check out the before and after of the turn signal! I swear the one on the left looked just like the one on the right!!! This is just 5 minutes of rubbing.

The upper right lens also had some nasty black paint or gunk on it which nothing would clean off, not even paint thinner. So I thought I'd give the Carb cleaner a try and.. voila! perfect turn signal lens! Is there anything this Carb Cleaner won't clean???

I also picked up a Morgan Carbtune, looking forward to charging locals $40 to synch their carbs...

After over 20 years of neglect, she runs!!!

Running VERY well too. Even with everything at stock settings, it was amazing how some cleaning and tuning could improve the performance of an old KZ650.

This is the before pic. Looks basically the same, but man was it a mess when I took it apart... Carbs gunked and completely out of tune (it had pods with 115 main jets), all sorts of electrical gremlins, cracked tires, etc etc...

I was itching to get it on the road for about a week but this snow just keeps coming!!!
