You are far too modest.  I have witnessed just how much you like helping others here.  Your knowledge and skills are well above "Luddite" Level.  I was out of riding for 20 years almost 20 years ago.  Your muscle memory will return just like your hammer memory!

If I can hide the fact that it was "nailed together in a shed by a Luddite with a big hammer collection" I will have achieved my goal

Quoted for truth! Very well said Wookie!

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

Way too modest. Anybody mapping shock linkage through suspension travel is building bikes to a higher level than most of the monoshock conversions on Bikeexif.

Been back on the seat pan over the weekend, I have relocated the original triumph fixings (push in retainer at he front and "snap" latch at the back) now that I know it's final position I have been able to fabricate the rear section of the pan to replace the half I cut off   I am new to plastic shaping and fabricating so really happy with the outcome. I know there are a few ripples in it (couldn't get heat to it from underneath) but I guess that's what flexible plastic filler is for   I was more interested in getting it to fit nice around the tailpiece ( might need to shim it as it's a bit too snug)

Today has been "one of those days" and reminded me why I push myself to try new things instead of outsourcing wherever possible (and I'm cheap  ) At the start of this project I took my trees and stem to a respected bike engineering specialist to adapt for my ZX9R RWU front end. He didn't want to get involved with the fork extensions (his decision and I respect that although if I thought it was unsafe I wouldn't be doing it) so I left him with the trees, bearings etc and a drawing of what I wanted and found somebody else to do the extensions (turned around in 10 days) I was told originally end of the month for the trees etc (June) As you can see from the thread so far I'm not desperate for the front end currently so I left it until late July to chase him. Still not done so I asked him to commit to 20th August to which he replied should be done before that, he was behind with work as he had been off with Covid. So I chased again today saying that as the 20th had passed I was a bit disappointed and could he commit to a firm date for completion ?
Well imagine my surprise after 3 months when I got the response " best come and get your parts, I am unable to commit to a completion date"
Now in fairness from other comments in the mail I get the impression that he has other s*~t going on at the moment but "really" I have to assume this isn't his normal level of service or he wouldn't have a business still but it's a real PITA for me now as most machine shops don't work Saturday (he does but not Monday) which means I need to take time off work now to get this sorted

Don't worry it's not him. I'm not going to call him out publicly as I don't know the full back story

It might be worth giving Roy Martin above a shout, ask him if there is any chance of a push to the top of his work pile, normally 6 week wait, his work is outstanding.

Since Covid a lot of car and bike stuff is getting done and the Tradies can pick and choose work now.
A lot will take bread and butter stuff that is straightforward and makes easier money.
