I purchased one complete 1982 KZ1000 LTD about a month ago and then a week after that I bought a partial 1982 CSR to be used as a parts bike.  Both bikes have titles.

I have to learn how to use this particular forum format so I'm going to submit this as a test post to see if it formats correctly and then continue on with the build...

Okay I think I figured out the forum formats and stuff so here we go.

Again I'm combining an 82 CSR and an LTD into one bike using the best parts from the two.  Someone actually welded the gear shifter to the shaft so I had to cut that off.  I had to buy a new shifter and shaft

I apologize as I'm still trying to figure out how to insert pictures into a post.  I'll figure it ughhh

I'm keeping the J engine basically bone stock.  I own very fast modern bikes so I have no need for this one to be a race bike.  I just want the classic KZ sound and a very reliable engine.  Nothing fancy here as far as the engine goes!

The carbs were not that horrible considering the years of neglect...but not good by any means.  I ordered a Dynojet Kit.  Installed it along with all new...well basically all new everything save the floats, chokes (enricheners, starter things, call them what you will)..so on.

One thing that didn't make it into the last post is that I replaced all of the carb diagrams for a total of 12 dollars.  10 dollars for the diaphragm shipped directly from China and some extra money for some superglue....I just cut off the top retainer ring on the slide (leaving the bottom ring)  and then removed the old diaphragm.  Then put the new diaphragm onto the old slide paying careful attention to orientation.  Super glued it very carefully and it's a done deal.  Just like new.

OH NO the engine from the LTD cannibalized something.

A clutchplate grenaded.  No damaga done to the bottom end.  OH...and look at the new shifter and shaft I mentioned in an earlier post.

I am not familiar with those 1PZ filters, but be sure that the inner lip of the rubber part of the filter does not block any of the air jets or passageways in the mouth of the carbs. Some Chinese filters are known to do that, and they will cause endless headaches trying to tune the carbs.

rims, so many options so many configurations.  for now im going to stick with the stock mags.  A 16" in the rear and a 19" in the front.  So lets polish them up.

I might send the CSR rims out to CA to Buchannans and have a custom set made up but for now, Ima Stock it.
